Description

Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras. From the Manufacturer Capture the far-off action of fast- paced sports or zoom in for an intimate portrait with the Canon EF 75-300mm telephoto zoom lens. The optical system, construction, and exterior are the same as the EF 75-300 mm f/4-5.6 III USM’s. The difference is that it uses a DC motor instead of a USM to drive the AF. As with all Canon lens, this 75-300 model carries a one-year warranty.Focal length: 75-300mm Maximum aperture: 1:4-5.6 Lens construction: 13 elements in 9 groups Diagonal angle of view: 32 (at 11 feet) to 8 degrees (at 15 feet) Closest focusing distance: 4.9 feet Zoom system: Rotating type Filter size: 58mm Dimensions: 2.8 inches in diameter, 4.8 inches long Weight: 16.8 ounces The most affordable of Canonís long telephoto zooms, this lens is excellent for subjects from portraits to wildlife and nature. It shares the same 13-element optical system as the 75-300mm USM lens, but uses a DC motor for autofocus. Close-focusing down to 4.9 feet (1.5m) allows filling the frame (at 300mm) with a subject the size of a dollar bill, and itís compatible with the Canon 58mm Close-up lens 500D for even more spectacular shots of small objects. Isolate the Interesting Part The eye tends to see the whole rather than the individual parts. It also sees whatís near and not whatís far. By bringing attention to those things missed by the eye, you can create many interesting pictures. It could be the grimace of an athlete, the grill of a classic car, or a girl against a blurred background. Telephoto lenses can also compress images to give dramatic effects. You are limited only by your imagination.

  • Great for total solar eclipse photos.
Style: Base
I bought this specifically to shoot the total solar eclipse back in April, and this lens did not disappoint. It’s a quality lens with some weight to it, and the photos produced are very sharp. I had no issues connecting to my Canon 6D mark II. I’ll be able to use this for other shoots in the future. Overall, great value for this lens. ... show more

  • Good Economic Option

I owned this lens for my old 35mm Rebel decades ago and decided it was a great option again at this price for my T8i. It has it's faults, like slow auto focus in lower light, but nothing I can't live with at this price. If you're a beginner and you're looking for something to get you a little closer to the action, this is an excellent choice. It's a sturdy, well made lens that is easy to use. I use it mostly for outdoor nature photography in bright sunlight, but I've also used it at car shows in convention centers with florescent lighting. It works well in both of those conditions for me. At this price, for what it is, I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • I use with Canon M50 Mark II

Overall, this is a great lens to have! I had to get an adapter for my camera though (which was like $30). The picture quality is great. It's zoom feature is also awesome for road trips (went to Idaho during Oregon fires) or portraits. It's heavy compared to my Canon but not too much of a problem. The only downside is that the Auto Focus is annoying to deal with and the constant noise is a little loud, but if you feel comfortable with Manual, this is definitely a lens to have! ... show more

  • Great Lens!
Style: Base
This lens is awesome for the price! I wanted it to take sports shots and was honestly hesitant about purchasing it. So glad I did! It takes awesome portrait style photos also with the blurred background. I haven’t had to use a tripod either and my photos come out great with no blur. I would Definitely recommend it! ... show more

  • Great lens for the price
Style: Base
While not a $1,000 lens it still performs very well in many different scenarios. I've used it with sports, wildlife and landscape shots. Even used it for a panorama out of morbid curiosity. A lot of people are posting images (including me) however the pictures don't entirely due the lens justice. Unfortunately a lot of the images lose quite a bit of quality when uploaded. Great beginner lens for people starting out in photography and want decent zoom. The autofocus can be a bit sketchy at times, especially during action shots however if you are good with manual tweaking settings and the focus areas it can still perform what you want it to 90% of the time. That's honestly my only real complaint but it was simply a minor inconvenience off the start and I was able to quickly correct it for what I needed or switched over to manual mode (absurd people still do that in 2024 I know). If you're looking to by a telescopic and don't have the $900+ budget for the high end lenses this is definitely worth a try. ... show more

First off I'm going to say that I bought this lens used for $100. I read plenty of reviews and most of them talked about how the amount of sharpness gets really low when you get around 300mm. This is true. From my testing, 75-200mm seems to be the sweet spots for this lens. I shot a few pictures out in the woods at 75mm f/4 of my Dad and the bokeh was pretty awesome. I also shot some pictures of birds at 300mm and it's just very unsharp the second you crop. The only way I've found to get good bird shots is to be really close to them. This is very difficult unless you're at a popular park where the birds are fairly used to humans. Here is a picture I took at 300mm and is only very slightly cropped [...] I was only a few feet from this bird. As you can see it's a sharp image due to VERY minimal cropping. It is difficult to fill the frame with these little birds let alone get close to them. Here is another bird at the same exact place [...] This was shot at 155mm, it was at Clingman's Dome in Gatlinburg which is a very popular place which makes these birds fairly used to humans. I put down some nuts right next to myself and it walked right up and took them and that's how I got this picture. Pros and Cons Pros: Takes great portraits at 75mm Very inexpensive for what it is Fairly well built for the price Cons: You lose almost all sharpness once you crop above 250mm The zooming is not very smooth Overall, who would I recommend this to? I would recommend this to any beginner photographer who wants to take pictures of their family or friends that may also enjoying wildlife photography. This would also be a great lens for someone who doesn't really care much about photography but wants a nice zoom lens to sit on their porch and take pictures of wildlife from far away (birds, deer, etc) TL;DR: Overall great value, absolutely worth the buy. ... show more

  • For the price? It's outstanding!
Style: Base
This lens is a great telephoto. It doesn't have as much magnification as those built in mirrorless cameras you'll see these days like the Fujifilm HS-50 with it's 24 to 1000 mm 42x mag but still does the job nonetheless! There is no stabilizer so yes, listen to the other people in the reviews, use a tripod or shoot with a high ISO and fast shutter speed. Otherwise things will blur, all the time, every time (not badly if you have a stable hand grip). The focus is totally manual which is really neat so the lens functions even without the camera on! It's quite fast too, albeit a bit noisier than those fully magnetic driven newfangled AF systems like the ones in the new 18-55 mm lens. It won't focus if you have a total blur though so use it manually to give the camera *something* to work with instead of a totally blurry starting frame. Also this thing weighs a fair bit, hilarious after using the stock 18-55 mm lens for years! Not too heavy though and it's not massive like those dooky white monstrosities you'll see sometimes. ... show more
