  • Really Like This Lens
OK, I received this lens, opened it and the lens was absolutely perfect. Yes, it is refurbished, but it looks brand new and had no blemishes. Same for the carrying case. The lens came in the standard Canon retail box. Have to tell you, this is one beast of a lens. It is long, in fact longer than my 100-400 Canon lens. It is also heavy, also heavier than my 100-400mm Canon lens. It is also a bag hog. In my medium sized bag, I could have two lens in the bag, with the camera settled in between them. With this lens that is not a happening! Due to the length of the lens, it requires the FULL width of the bag. No extra lens, and the camera has to move to the compartment on top of the bag. This lens wants ALL of the main internal compartment of my bag! I could previously have my 100-400 lens, my 100-300 lens, AND my camera in the main compartment of my bag. With this lens, that is out the window, and I only have this one lens in the bag. This could be an issue if you wanted multiple lens capability, out of the same bag. You would need to buy a bag, that would almost be like a backpack (full sized) to house this lens, and another lens, plus camera. Have a small camera bag--forget it!! ... show more

  • Received in excellent condition
The lens arrived on time and in excellent condition. I wasn't expecting a lens hood or a tripod mount based on the pictures, but both were included. I'm very happy and looking forward to using it.

  • Lens is not as advertised, company will scam you and Amazon will not back up!!
I purchased this lens (EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM) from this specific seller because the shipping time indicated the item would come within a range of dates that was closer to my need than other sellers. Within minutes of purchasing the item, the status moved to “Shipped” with the detail stating that UPS was awaiting the item from the shipper. The status remained the same, with UPS waiting for the item from the shipper, for a full week. When the status had still not changed on the first of the estimated arrival dates, I reached out to the company through Amazon regarding the status. I reached out on a Friday morning, by that afternoon the status finally changed with UPS saying they had the package and I received a reply on the following day from the company. The company stated that there had been a delay with shipping. The lens did not arrive until a full week after it was originally projected to arrive. When the lens arrived, it came relatively loose in a brown cardboard shipping box, 12X12X15. The lens was wrapped in bubble wrap with packing paper surrounding it. I was surprised at how insecure the item was in the box. The Amazon page advertises that the item is packaged in Bulk-White Packaging. I have received items in the past in “Bulk-White packaging” and those items are typically packed securely with styrofoam inside of a blank white box, or one lacking branding. The lens was advertised as being in excellent / like new condition. Upon first inspection, I would challenge this cosmetically. There were no major scratches. However, the lens showed extreme wear and tear. Paint had been worn to the point exposed metal was visible near the connectors and ends. The lens was visibly old. But, it was a renewed item. I knew it wouldn’t be brand new. I had expected something a little less worn based on the description. The main issue came when I attempted to use the Lens (EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM). Upon connecting the lens to my Canon EOS 90D, I found ISM motor to be very loud - compared to other lens I own. When I began to take pictures, I found the Auto-Focus to be an issue. The feature would not work consistently. I would take a picture using Auto-Focus and the feature would work. I would go to take a second picture and the feature would not respond and the image would remain blurred. I did this several times for a period of time trying to trouble shoot and figure out what was wrong. I tried switching AF to MF and back to AF. I found this brought the feature back to working briefly a couple of times, but not consistently. I tried turning the stabilizer on and off as well to see if that had any influence on the issue. It did not. I moved from Manual to Auto modes on the camera to see if this would have an effect. I mounted other lens back onto my EOS 90D and could not replicate the issue with a different lens. All of my other lenses worked as expected. I then mounted the purchased lens (EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM) to my T7i and the experienced the same issue with Auto-Focus on this camera body as I had experienced with my EOS 90D. I decided to return the item as it was not up to the quality and functionality as advertised. I need something I can rely to work properly all of the time, especially after spending over a grand on it. I can not spend time in the middle of a photography shoot trying to get the lens to function. I followed the procedure for returning the item through Amazon and received a notification that my return had been approved by the seller. I shipped the item back to the seller through UPS. I repackaged it in the same packaging I had received it in, with the same bubble wrapping and paper. A few days after the item had been received by the seller, I got an email stating they were charging me an almost $300 restocking fee for returning the item. I had an item that was sent to me in insufficient packaging, that came a week late, that did not work and did not appear to be in the condition that it was advertised to be in that I was now being charged for returning. There should be no need for a restocking fee, because if the item was what you advertised it to be in the first place there would be no need for a return. The issue with the reason(s) for the return lies solely on the seller in this situation, not on the customer. I was slightly apprehensive about making such a large purchase on a renewed item, but was encouraged to do so by Amazon’s backing of the product. Through several links on this sales screen it indicates there is no risk. If the item does not work as advertised, or as guaranteed to, you can receive a full refund within 90 days. There is no indication of a restocking fee. Everything is advertised to the contrary. I reached out to Amazon regarding this, because even though this is a “third-party seller” and “third-party shipper” it is AMAZON that is backing the product and the guarantee on a renewed item. I was met with resistance from the Amazon Customer Service Reps I spoke with. I am currently in limbo waiting for the Seller to respond to the request for a refund on the restocking fee. I have printed off every policy, invoice, page and customer service conversation related to this purchase as well, as I feel the outrage restocking fee and the failure to back up an advertised policy is sufficient enough to purse legal action over. This purchase feels like a scam. Send out a subpar product and then charge the customer when that subpar product is returned. I would not recommend taking the gamble on this, or anything from this company for that matter. Just spend the extra money and get a brand new lens that is backed up by the manufacture. **Pictures shown of item as it was originally received. ... show more

  • INSPECT your lens!!!!!
Inspect your lens! I understand it is a refurbished lens however, there is a big scratch that keeps me from taking clear pictures. Will be exchanging in hopes to get one without a scratch the interferes with images.

  • First Generation lens for that price is too much.
Looking at the picture and description this is first generation lens, Canon not probably not servicing this item any long. It was all-ready two already of this lens. I have same age 400mm L lens, Canon can't fix it, no parts. I would think twice before paying this much, over $1000 for old lens.
