Style: Lens Only
I'm a professional wedding photographer and have been shooting full time since 2002. I've been using primes for the last 10 years and tend to shoot with two 5 Mark III bodies. The 35L Mark I has been my most used lens; approximately 50 percent of the images I deliver to clients are shot with it. Another 25 percent are shot with the 85LII, and the rest are equally divided between the 135L, the 50L and the 24LII. I venture below f/2 only when I need to because none of the above lenses achieve critical sharpness wide open. They are of course awesome lenses, but just aren't *as sharp* as I prefer. And yes, they are all microadjusted. The 35 1.4 II is simply in another world compared to the rest of Canon's most recent L series primes from 24mm to 135mm. I felt like I put on a pair of glasses when I started peeping at the files. It's as sharp wide open as the old one was at 2.8. Color fringing is practically non existent, and it nails focus in dimly lit venues with my 5d3 bodies 90% of the time wide open, compared to maybe 65% of the time with the old one (we are talking ISO 3200, 1/100th, f/1.4 -- so not much ambient light). Color and contrast are gorgeous. This is an expensive lens but in a class of its own and I'm thrilled with it. It's bigger than the old version and seems quite a bit more robust. I've used the Sigma Art lens, which seemed nearly as sharp, but focus accuracy was not as good in poorly lit reception venues. ... show more

  • Ideal lens
Style: Lens Only
My new go-to lens for portraits. I’ve tried all the slightly cheaper options, but none of them compare. Good autofocus, sharpness, and lightweight.

  • Worth my penny!
Style: Lens Only
This 35mm f/1.4 lens is an absolute gem in the world of photography. The wide F/1.4 aperture makes it a standout choice for me. If only one lens I can bring with me, then 35mm F/1.4 is my choice! The image quality is outstanding and vibrant colors. The wide aperture not only excels in low-light situations but also provides that beautiful, creamy bokeh for stunning background solation. Whether capturing portraits or landscapes, this lens proves to be incredibly versatile. It delivers exceptional results across various shooting scenarios. Investing in the Canon 35mm f/1.4 is my smartest choice, as it elevates my photography to new heights! It is the top choice for professionals and enthusiasts. Update Works super great although in a dark environment. Nothing wrong except the lens sent by the original package. The best purchased. It is expensive but worth every penny. ... show more

Super fast F1.4, this lens covers all the bases, from quality glass to weather resistant sealing. This lens is perfect for landscape photography and for traveling light. I'm solely a prime lens user, and this one is always in my bag.

  • My go-to for everything!
Style: Lens Only
I would purchase this lens 10 times over. I use a 6D and a Mark IV to do wedding and lifestyle photography. This is my go to lens for everything. I let never fails to deliver the quality images I crave. I originally purchased a Sigma Art 35 but ended up selling because it lost focus after 2 months. I highly recommend this lens. It may be a large chunk of change but worth every single penny. ... show more

  • Sharp, Great in Low Light
Style: Lens Only
I’ve wanted this lens for a long time! It’s the perfect wide angle lens with a sharp output. It’s a beast of a lens. Had to take some getting used to but after a few days it’s easy to figure it out. GREAT in low light. Very happy!
