  • Works great with my ThinkPad T420s but read my final thought...
Size: 10 Feet
I always bring my laptop with me whenever we go on a family vacation for two reasons. First reason is so that my kids can watch Netflix or a DVD movie off my laptop during the night at the hotel, and the second reason is so that I can do some work on it if I ever have a need for it. I have few laptops at home, including Lenovo ThinkPads, HP ProBook, Gateway, and Asus models. All my laptops EXCEPT Lenovo ThinkPads have HDMI port, which allows me to easily connect to a TV at a hotel to redirect the video and audio from my laptop to the TV. Lenovo ThinkPads, on the other hand, have what's called "DisplayPort", which looks similar to the HDMI port but it won't fit HDMI cable connector. I always have a spare HDMI cable in my luggage so that I don't forget to pack it whenever I go on a vacation but it was useless whenever I brought Lenovo ThinkPad. So I bought this DisplayPort to HDMI cable from Cable Matters to keep it inside my luggage along with my HDMI cable. This cable is very thick and looks durable. I had it for 4 years now and it still works great. My only minor complain, which is not a deal breaker, is that it's a big difficult and awkward to press the release latch when unplugging it from the DisplayPort. However, it appears that they have corrected this by replacing the release latch with a button style latch. Finally, I wish I had purchased a DisplayPort to HDMI male to female adapter instead so that it will take less space in my luggage and especially since I always have HDMI cable in my luggage, but overall this cable does what it's intended to and works wonderfully with my Lenovo ThinkPad T420s model. ... show more

  • Do not buy Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDTV Cable 15 Feet, get DisplayPort 1.2 to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K 10 Feet instead!
Size: 15 Feet
NOVEMBER 2015 UPDATE: I gave Cable Master one more shot and not regret it at all. My first cable was Gold plated version and it's absolutely crap one. You can read review on it below this post. In short version - bad picture and no way to get a sound out of computer to TV. Then I decided to try DisplayPort 1.2 to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K 10 Feet and it works like a charm. Don't even have to touch GC or audio settings - seconds after it was connected to TV I got clear and sharp picture and sound. Would love to get 15ft instead of 10 just in a case, but then you click on 15ft version it switched to crappy "Golden Plated" one. Will keep looking for a longer one. Pros: works right out of box, clear and sharp picture AND sound. No problems whatsoever. Cons: None so far. 4 stars only because of first purchase and waste of time. JULY 2015 OLD REVIEW ABOUT Cable Matters® Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDTV Cable 15 Feet - do not buy it! Got this cable 'cos it was only one on Amazon 15ft long DP to HDMI. I have 750Ti GC and was hopping to get a Samsung TV as 3rd monitor through DP port to watch movies, netflix etc etc. Well, it's not worked out this way. Picture quality not even close to what I did expect, less saturated, less brighter, less everything compare to picture I have when connecting computer to TV directly hdmi-to-hdmi. But the worst part is - this cable DID NOT gave me any audio. At all. It wasn't recognized by sound panel in Win 7 AND audio in Nvidia control panel. Spend hour and half with techsupp from both Gygabite and Nvidia, checked every and any settings, run tests and everything was working perfect - as soon as this cable is disconnected. So be aware - there is a chance you'll get such a crap cable and didn't get ANY promised "...high-definition ... flawless audio..." AT ALL. Will return it tomorrow. Pros: NONE. And c'mon, guys! "Golden plated" is sooo 90's. Or somewhere still people who believed in it?:O) Cons: EVERYTHING. Bad picture, NO audio, crap quality. ... show more

  • works like a charm
Size: 6 Feet
I purchased this cable in order to watch content from my Lenovo T410 laptop on a HD TV. The laptop has a DisplayPort (DP++) output and the TV has HDMI input. Simply by connecting the ends of this cable to my laptop and TV, I had an 720p HD image of my laptop screen almost instantly. However, there was no audio. The lack of audio was *not* due to any flaw in the cable. In the process of troubleshooting, I saw several websites which simply blamed this sort of no-audio problem on a "cheap cable" -- but, while this cable is certainly inexpensive (which is one of the reasons I got it!), it has no trouble carrying audio (and very clear audio, at that). I eventually found a Lenovo forum which held the answer: "First go to your audio settings by going FN + F6, choose 'Audio Defaults + Settings'. Then choose your TV as the default audio." This did the trick for me -- I instantly had audio (both through the laptop speakers and the HD TV). The poster on the Lenovo forum also had this piece of advice (which I never followed, since the first step solved the problem for me): "Now the sneaky part. Push FN + F7 and choose 'Projector Only', then sound will come out of the TV. Took me forever to figure out." Again, I had no need to do this, but I'm re-posting it in case someone else does. In summary, after some fiddling with my cpu's settings, this cable delivered all that was promised: crystal clear audio and visual from my laptop to my HD TV. Note: I have only used the cable on a handful of occasions during the past few weeks, so I'm not in a good position to evaluate its durability. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, when the DisplayPort end connects to the computer, it "latches" into place, and a small panel must be pressed in order to release it -- this "release latch" doesn't feel like the most sturdy thing in the world, but it hasn't given my any problems so far, and handled gently, I would imagine that it will continue to function just fine. ... show more
