Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

These reviews are about two fermentation lids brands AIEVE and Burp Lids. While both brands are generally well-received, AIEVE offers better value for money. The Burp Lids hand pump is not well-regarded due to low quality and inefficient operation. All lids were reported to fit well on Ball brand jars, and the notches in the design enhance the lids' usability. The Burp Lids Automatic Pump, as an added item, received positive feedback.

Pros

  • 💡Both AIEVE and Burp Lids fit well on Ball brand jars.
  • 💼 The notches in the brands' designs aid in screwing and unscrewing the lids.
  • 🔔AIEVE Lids are more affordable.
  • 🎉The Burp Lids Automatic Pump is a recommended buy for all the fermentation lids.

Cons

  • 👎Burp Lids are slightly more expensive than AIEVE.
  • 💥The hand pumps that come with the Burp Lids packs are low quality and inefficient.
  • ⚠️ Some leakages experienced with the lids.
  • ⏰Difficulty in getting a proper seal with some lids.

Should I Buy It?

If you're in need of fermentation lids, choosing the AIEVE brand may be a good financial decision. However, regardless of the brand of lids you buy, the Burp Lids Automatic Pump is a worthy addition to your purchase. Customer reviews suggest it's a highly functional and efficient tool that greatly improves the process of using the lids.

  • AMAZING PRODUCT!!!
The quality and value of this product is grossly understated. Here is what I love: 1. Reasonably affordable 2. Idiot Proof 3. Seals well most of the time 4. Absolutely creates a vacuum inside the vessel 5. Removes the oxygen and prevents the mold 6. Degasses the contents - so if you put coke or beer in it, it is going to go flat, fyi Here's what I don't like" 1. I don't have enough of them 2. The plastic hand pump quality is not great. You may find you need to lube it occationally. Here's what is important to note: 1. You have to be diligent and ensure any seal including this one. Once a week I go jar to jar (all of my product is in glass mason jars from pint to one gallon and take a couple draws with the pump. Most do not need it. But it is good practice to ensure your vacuum and seal. One time the seal just wasn't working. I tool the lid off, cleaned the seals, reapplied the lid and it was fine. Bottom line is if it fails, it is likely a maintenance issue on you, not the product. ... show more

  • Manual pump defective
I purchased this and returned because manual pump broke , the pump stopped working. I opened it to reveal that o ring inside pump that provides suction came off and bunched up in pump. So i returned product, got a replacement and it worked perfectly for one week then did the same thing. I followed the instructions to a tee , and didn’t over pump either , yet pump still failed. Good concept but didn’t work. Burp inc you are welcome to contact me and make right . Updated: since I last submitted, spoke with burp lids. They made things right and sent me an updated pump, works great as it should. Five stars !!! ... show more

  • Burp Lids vs AIEVE Lids
Burp Lids $19.99 (after a $10 off coupon): 4 lids and a hand pump AIEVE Lids $14.99 : 6 lids (There is an AIEVE set of 6 lids plus a hand pump and a pounder for $21.99 but I didn’t want the hand pump or pounder.) So I wanted 12 fermentation lids. AIEVE was $29.98 for two packs of 6 lids (= 12 lids). Burp Lids was $59.97 (after $30 off in coupons) for three packs, each with 4 lids and 1 hand pump (= 12 lids and 3 hand pumps). I didn’t care about the hand pumps because I wanted to buy the Burp Lids Automatic Pump $24.99 (after a $5 off coupon). I read some reviews that mentioned the Automatic Pump worked with any brand of fermentation lids). The notches in both brands of lids helped me screw and unscrew the lids much better than regular smooth lids. Two packs of 6 lids from AIEVE and the Burp Lids Automatic Pump came in at $54.97!!! FIVE DOLLARS CHEAPER than three packs of Burp Lids (4 lids 1 hand pump per pack = 12 lids and 3 hand pumps). The packaging/branding of the Burp Lids is really nice. And the black and green colors make the lids look really sleek and shiny BUT apart from the colors, the lids were identical to the AIEVE lids. I took all the Burp Lids out of the packaging along with the pumps and examined them for imperfections since a lot of reviews mention receiving defective lids. All 12 lids were in perfect condition. I tested each one on a Ball brand jar, they all fit well. I also tested the hand pumps, they stink, they are very low quality pumps and not smooth to operate at all, all three pumps had the same problems. It takes at least 3 pulls to get all the air out of a jar. I can’t imagine fiddling with the hand pump through 12 lids. I also tested the Burp Lids Automatic Pump on each lid to make sure everything worked right, and I’m happy to report everything worked fine. Next I took all the AIEVE lids out of their packaging and examined them for imperfections and defects too. All 12 were in perfect working condition. I also tested each lid on a Ball brand jar, using the Burp Lids Automatic Pump with each one. They all worked perfectly. Regarding the Burp Lids Automatic Pump, you can just place it on the top of the jar, push the button, wait for it to turn green, turn it off and take it off of the lid and there is a satisfying pop sound when you take it off proving the seal. But I felt it worked better if I just held the Automatic Pump with a little bit of downward pressure against the lid, it made a better and stronger pop sound. Also you can feel it’s a stronger seal when you take the Pump off the lid. I tried to figure out which brand was better but they are exactly the same. The only difference I could find was the weight of the lids, Burp Lids lids came in at 39.2 grams and AIEVE lids came in at 41.1 grams, I don’t know that the weight difference makes any impact on the quality. If the Burp Lids were cheaper I’d be inclined to buy them, the bright green and shiny black, make them look very pretty and high end. But the price, even with the discount coupon, doesn’t make sense to me. The AIEVE lids aren’t quite as pretty or eye grabbing but they work just as well as the Burp Lids so I’m keeping the AIEVE lids and the Burp Lids Automatic Pump, they are a match made in heaven. I’m giving Burp Lids 4 stars due to the high price and sucky hand pump. I’m giving AIEVE lids 5 stars because they work great and are super affordable. I cannot emphasize enough that no matter which brand of fermentation lid you buy, you should buy the Burp Lids Automatic Pump, the hand pumps are completely worthless and a pain in the neck. See my Burp Lids Automatic Pump review for some videos and extra pics. ... show more

  • Works off and on, but this method tends to work
Either won't seal or don't keep a seal, is what I've faced with these. These lids can be tricky to get on which can prevent a seal. The rubber burp which helps keep the vacuum tend to be too small or off centered. This allows for leakage. The others took a lot of tries and eventually sealed after some toggling and taking the lid on and off. Eventually all lids failed, but after several attempts I got a few to work properly. In the end, only 2 of mine never held a good seal Update: For best results with these lids. Make sure no debris are in the following places: rim of jar or outter sides of jar, lid's rim seal and lid's inner sides. Put the lid on top of your jar. Rotate counterclockwise until lid falls in place. Turn clockwise until tight and snug Make sure burp is centered and not cramp on any side. Do this before and after you use the pump to extract the air from within the jar. ... show more

  • Take all guess work out of curing!
I had originally been using regular mason jar lids to help with curing, however, the flower still had gotten moldy leading to a waste of yield. Once I got these lids, my flower came out perfect and I just finished a batch around Halloween. All you gotta do is a few pumps a day and then release the air. I can't believe I haven't seen these before! For any grower, these are a requirement in my book. ... show more

  • Do not work as advertised
I really wanted these to work but two of the lids didn’t work right out of the box. They wouldn’t hold the air longer than a few hours. After 3 weeks a third lid stopped working. So out of 4 lids i only have one that works. that’s a 75% failure rate. i won’t buy again.
