Description

The purpose of this book is simple: I want you to become an articulation expert. Articulation is often the key to winning suppression hearings, trials, and civil right’s lawsuits. Articulation has two goals. First, you need to provide enough evidence to prove a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. Second, you must describe how you obtained your evidence lawfully. In other words, were your searches and seizures in compliance with the Fourth Amendment? And were your confessions, if any, in compliance with the Fifth Amendment? Do that and you have a bulletproof report. This book also include HUNDREDS of articulation examples. Read more

  • Required reading
I teach report writing at my agency and this text should be issued to all LEOs everywhere. Mic drop. Exit stage right.

  • Must-have!
This book is a must-have for the law enforcement professional!

  • Is helpful in establishing good practices
This book has some very specific legal language that is not used in my area. However, the information provided is sound and offers good principles to establish solid reports. Some specific language and identifiers are universal in law enforcement. The book may not help you in every facet of your writing given your local legal requirements but it offers good insight to the importance of detail and what detail is important. I found this book helpful on those levels and agree with many of the ideas within. ... show more

  • Great book for Police Officers
Good book for new and veteran officers on report writing. Gives lots of suspect indicators on what to look for.

  • Repetitive repetitiveness repetitively
Vast majority of this book is the author repeating the same elements required for different crimes. For example, for every crime the author repeats to "establish the crime occurred in your jurisdiction". Things that are so simple they shouldnt need to be said. It has some good basic info and tips but nothing that justifies a $25 price tag. ... show more

  • No. Just no
I’m a police officer, not an attorney. With that being said, I found many flaws in this book. Typos, repeated statements (many) and in most of the chapters it has writings about “inhalants”. Clearly the writer did not proof read. Waste of money.
