  • Quick ID on OBD codes!
I pulled a shade-tree mistake and drained the CVT fluid on my Subaru Forester, thinking it was the oil pan. (Laugh all you want, plenty of people have done this, because the CVT pan is out in the open and not marked, while the oil drain plug is hidden behind a plastic panel). Anyhow, I also added 5 quarts of oil to the engine. When I went to function test and start the engine, the dash panel lit up like a Christmas tree and told me I was NOT Santa Claus. After a little online research, I realized my problem, refilled the CVT pan, drained the oil, and did a proper oil change... ...but my dash lights were still on. Many Subaru vehicles light the Check Engine, Hill Start, traction control, and blink the Cruise Control for ANY vehicle problem—mine was not an exception. After a short five mile test drive with everything working, I ordered this OBD scanner—overnight, yes, please. The instructions are typically funky and not always in clear English, but they get the message across. Once you plug in the OBD scanner, start the car, and verify your VIN, it spat out a P0700 code (transmission; big surprise!), allowed me to document the “freeze frame” codes (what was happening at the time of the error), and clear the error codes. After turning the car off, I turned it back on. All of my codes were off, the car was operating normally, and I could use my cruise control again. So, for a $25 scanner and $75 in fluids, I saved what averages a $400 dealership repair. I will keep the scanner for future use. Since OBD is standardized since 1996, I should be able to use it on other vehicles in the future—but if you change your oil on a Subaru, make sure you pull the right plug! ... show more

  • Saved me $700
When the check engine light came on in my 2015 Dodge Ram, I went to my mechanic only to find out he had passed away and was replaced by a different, much less knowledgeable mechanic. They told me my oxygen sensor (one of 4) was out and it would be $800 to replace all 4 (you usually replace them all at the same time). Since I didn't trust this mechanic I ordred this reader to see the codes myself. Sure enough, it was the fuel pressure sensor, not the oxygen sensor(s). I bought this $70 part from the dealer, installed the new on in less than 30 mins. This little device saved me $700 (800 - this - the part) for a repair that wasn't even necessary, and at the same time told me exactly what the issue was. The display is easy to read, the interface very intuitive. Because of this I will be doing my own repairs from now on. Thank you, whoever made this, for being a huge blessing in my life. :) ... show more

  • Super useful tool for your toolbox!
A very useful tool to have inside your toolbox. Sometimes just figuring out why your car’s check engine light can even cost you, so it’s awesome to have a tool like this that will tell you. We used this on a 2010 Hyundai Sonata and it worked perfectly. I love the idea that I can give the mechanics an idea of what needs to be fixed on my car so that they don’t try to “upset” me anything I don’t really need. The device itself is truly “plug and play” and feels very sturdy. I feel like I’ll have this one for many years to come. The cable is 2.5 feet long which makes using it and getting your car diagnosis a very comfortable process if you’re sitting in the driver’s seat. ... show more

  • Helpful
Am really happy to find this.in this day and age it will be nice to test myself versus having to go to a busy auto parts store, wait in line, and hope they are being honest with me. This way I can test myself when something does not seem correct or just on a schedual of my choosing for maintenance that can be done at home. It works with relative ease and has a very clear read out so no guessing at what it says. No over complicated instructions or steps for use like some items that make you want to throw it back in the box. Really like the ease of use. ... show more

  • Easy to use!
My sister had red lights popping on her dashboard...I decided to buy her something that is inexpensive to delete the codes. I found this OBD and it is great for the price, it is also user-friendly and easy to navigate the options for deleting the codes or reading the car problems. I think it is a great product for the price! ... show more

  • Very effective tool
This scanner helps to save a lot of money. The menu for choosing make and model was simple and quick. The analysis took a minute and gave a code and my husband searched online what issue was. This scanner was easy as following a few simple instructions how to plug it and read it.

  • It works.
So when I was looking at scanners I came a cross this. I was kind of hesitant to buy something cheap. The reason being is sometimes you get what you pay for. Well that’s not the case here. This thing worked great. It did Exactly what I needed to do. It was easy to use. It was easy to read. So if don’t need anything fancy. This should be your pick. I bought this to do some troubleshootIng. ... show more

  • Follow the instructions
I havent used this. I bought it to reset my Check engine light for an anticipated vehicle emissions check that wasn’t required in my county. So I cant really say whether it works or not.
