*** Update 2-4-20 *** I still really like the Buckle Bee, however I’m taking off one star because the device will occasionally come off the strap which is useless for my daughter to unbuckle herself. We’ve had it for a couple months now and it’s unattached twice. It’s mostly just inconvenient and not a reason to stop using it, but at the $15 price point I feel like it shouldn’t become unattached so easily. *Original review* I really like this gadget. My daughter is almost 5 and is mature enough to know to only use the device when she is supposed to get out of the car. I feel like $15 is slightly expensive for this small piece of plastic. $10-$12 would be a better value. The other versions which cost less don’t have very good reviews though. This product makes my life easier and makes my daughter feel more independent so I’ll give it the full 5 stars. ... show more

Husband thought this product would be ridiculous but lo and behold he is using it too! I had my baby just 10 days before being in a wedding so my nails were done up in fancy acrylic (not very long, but still difficult to unbuckled the seat belt) I’m planning on keeping the nails and the Bucklebee!!     • Quality Product: Efficient assisted release WITHOUT accidental release

BLUF: Safe, effective product that responsible parents can use with disciplined practice. I don’t like non-safety products with giant warnings: I’m a combat veteran, a husband and father. Disclaimers and warnings don’t bring back kids so I was skeptical and stress tested this item before using it with my children. So I tried this in a 2015 Toyota Avalon and 2014 Honda Odyssey driven by a combat driver with a weighted doll (think: EMT training tool/CPR dummy). Regardless of the hard stops (60mph rapid deceleration; 25mph sharp turn LF and RT; short stops), rapid acceleration (0-60; 30-60; 0-25 hairpin LF and RT) and weaving with braking the buckle did not release. HOWEVER, once my 5 year old was in the seat, he immediately was able to use the Bucklebee. This means two things: 1. I am responsible for my child’s safety and whether he is ready to use this (that whole being accountable and parenting responsibilities concept) 2. We needed to practice this process and ensure he was prepared. So we did and all was well. No problems (didn’t even need to adjust the straps). I didn’t find five dollars. My story is anticlimactic because the Bucklebee works well but doesn’t create problems. Be responsible, talk to your kids and it will work well. If they can handle it, then it will be great not to have to dive backwards into the backseat to unbuckle them at drop off each day. It’s been great for us. ... show more

It's so hard to put on you would think it would be equally as hard to come off, but no. It comes off by itself often and I'm always having to fight to get it back on. I wish it had a caribeaner clip instead of a slit in the plastic.
