This item provides less heat than a heating pad, not at all worth the money. I should have tested it when I received it, but waited for the cold weather and now it too late to return. So if you buy one (don't!) test it out right away to see if yours gives off any heat. Total junk.

    • Will work good in an insulated pet house
The heater works well in a insulated house I built for a Ferrell cat. The surface gets hot to the touch when on high, but with an insulated house there is no need to run it on high. It warm the house up nicely and keeps heating. It takes a bit of guess work to adjust for lower temp, but I figure anything is better than the cat would have naturally. ... show more

    • Temp control is for surface temp, not room temp!
Like several others, bought when temps were warm and installed. Doghouse never gets warm when temp dropped. Finally installed temp probe in room and on surface of heater. Apparently the temp control is for the surface temperature not the room temp. When set to 60 degs, the surface only gets to 60 degs. When set to 110 degs, the surface gets to 110. Room still cold. At 110 it does provide a warm surface for the dogs to cuddle, but room (2ft X 3 ft, fully insulated) is at 41 degs when outside temp is 28. Power is too low to provide any warmth away from surface.     • Don’t waste your money
For what it cost this is a not worth it. I had it set to the highest level and it didn’t heat up the dog house at all. I ended up going to Walmart to buy a cheap $20 small space heater and that is doing the trick.

Actually surprised given all the negative reviews here. This thing worked as envisioned. My small uninsulated cat house was comfortable through the winter.

It doesn't heat! Can BARELY feel anything less than 1 inch away and that's all the way up to 120 degrees! We installes it in our dog house and it was cold after having it in there all night! Do not waste your money on this product!

Love that the heater is quiet, it does not bother the dog. It doesn’t warm more than about 5 degrees above outside temps for the enclosed 4x6 dog house.
