  • Fits my Honda Pilot 2018, install not difficult with some tools
Size: 2016-2022 Bare Roof
Installed on the 2018 Pilot in about 1 hour. I'd recommend getting the plastic trim tools (about $7) to help. They aren't too expensive and I can probably find other uses for them later. Instructions are not too detailed. Having done it now, I can say it is best to start the process of removing the roof rail trim at the front of the car. Pop off the little cover on the front piece to access the bolt. Remove it with a ratchet. Then it will come off and disconnect from the the longer rail piece behind. Use pry tools to help disengage it from the plastic tabs. No need to remove the rear section of trim that goes into the hatch area. I was able to just pull the pieces apart. To cut the trim to size, I used a jig saw with a metal blade. Very easy. A hack saw will work but it will take longer and give you a workout (I tried that for my first cut then moved to the jig saw instead. You only need to cut out about 1" of rail at each bolt. I placed the rail next to the new bolts and used blue painters tape to indicate the cut area, cutting through the tape after marking it. The bolts provided are a pretty tight fit , but I think that is be design so they will not loosen. Be careful with the wrench so as to not scratch your roof. Go slowly, and perhaps put some blue tape down in case the wrench slips so you do not scratch the metal. I did not put the bolts all the way down as they just would not go any further, but they were tight and not going anywhere, and when I put the roof rail brackets on, it was fine. There does seem to be a few bolts on the roof you can attach to, if you switch the plastic clips around, think about that as you determine where to install the rails as it will add or decrease a few inches between the rails. Maybe not a big deal, unless you have some sort of roof attachment already that has a specific distance it expects between the rails. Other than that pretty straight forward and easy. I think they look great, save you about $800 vs. the Honda install. ... show more

  • No regrets
Size: 2016-2022 Silver
This was somewhat of an "emergency" purchase, as our very expensive Thule mounts seemed to have gone missing just prior to a cross-country road trip. Normally, I'd tend to avoid unknown non-OEM brands, but given our urgency, I really had no choice. As it turns out, these rails performed perfectly and have tuned out to be a regret-free purchase that I'm glad I made! Contrary to some other reviews, I found the length adjustments to be intuitive and not difficult at all. With just minor adjustments, the bars aligned perfectly with the dealer-installed side rails on my wife's 2016 Pilot. At that point, securing them was quick and easy (full disclosure: I did use a ratchet and extension in place of the provided tool), even in the dark, cold and rainy weather. When I first opened the package, my initial thought was that the "silver" color was exceptionally bright and would clash with the silver finish of the car. To my surprise, that was not the case - the difference is actually less noticeable in person than my photos suggest. It's honestly barely noticeable, even when you know you're looking for it. Ultimately, I bought these for a purpose, not for aesthetics; in that sense, they did the job and they did it perfectly. The day after they were installed, we had our 20 cu. ft. carrier attached, loaded to capacity. Our 15-day adventure took us over 7,300 miles through 18 states in just about every weather extreme imaginable. There was not one single issue or concern with these crossbars during the trip, nor have there been since. With the carrier removed, my wife has not noticed any noise or vibration and the bars remain as secure as the day they were installed. I originally intended on removing these when we returned and only using them when we needed the cargo carrier, but my wife actually requested they stay on permanently, as she "likes the look". I feel like I lucked out with this purchase... given more time, I was fully prepared to spend twice the cost (or more) of these on OEM or big-brand crossbars. The quality and performance of the Brightline product have made me glad I didn't make that mistake! ... show more

  • Affordable, functional, needed some tweaking...
Size: 2016-2022 Black
The package was well-packed, no damage in shipping. The product was in good overall condition. All parts were included. The instructions aren't the best, but come on-it's a simple installation procedure that doesn't require a lot of instruction. When inspecting the rails, I removed the bottom covers and found they could not be fully installed, no matter how much force I exerted. A quick review of the parts indicated that the covers are just a hair too big to fit in the end caps. I had to trim the flashing in order to get all 4 covers to fit inside the end caps. I also found some stress was caused to the retainer prongs when they were assembled-but they didn't seem weakened, just discolored. I measured the placement on the roof and marked it with a pencil to tighten up while on the ground. Fiddling endlessly with the allen wrench on the roof seemed like it would be way more trouble than it was worth. Once that was complete and the covers snapped on the endcaps, it's just 4 bolts per rail in the factory bolt holes. Well under an hour from start to finish. I'd like to give this 3.5 stars for some of the fit and finish issues I encountered, but since I can only give a 3 or 4, I will go for 4. Roughly $100 for some roof rails is a great deal compared to OEM-especially if you're like me and haul something on your roof once or twice per year. ... show more
