It's a nice looking lamp. It is extreamly easy to set up. The materials feel kinda light and cheap, but I did not buy the lamp to feel it. I bought the lamp because it looks nice and it works well. I'm not sure that the materials feel like a 100$ lamp, but it sure does look like a high quality lamp. The bulb it comes with is nice bright white. The lamp shade gives the bulb a warm white. I feel like the cord could have been handled a bit better, but hey, its a relatively cheap lamp. It does a great job at lamping, and that is probably why you are looking at the reviews. All in all, its a nice lamp. As far as sturdiness goes, It is a skinny 6 foot tall lamp with a tiny base. I'm not sure why some people expect it to be sturdy, that's not really possible without weighing down the bottom, or securing it on 2-3 sides (like i did). I have a small bedroom and bought this to provide a night stand and a lamp by the bed. Its small footprint is perfect for this space. The item arrived quickly, was well packed, had all the parts (and a couple of extra hardware bits), and took less than an hour to assemble. I used my own Phillips screwdriver for the bottom and top levels; the rest all went together without tools. The unit is tall, so I used a sturdy step stool when assembly the last two levels. LED bulb was included. The frame and shelves are wood. I was surprised that the drawers are plastic--but they don't look like plastic when viewing the unit, and have more storage room inside than if they were made of wood, so I'm satisfied. The unit looks nice, has the appropriate footprint for my room, and has just enough shelf and storage space for the task. If it also had a USB plug for phone charging, it would be perfect. This is a really nice lamp. The light is mellow, which is perfect because I purchased it for the bedroom. The piece is not completely wood, so there are a lot of plastic components, but it does look very nice and went together really easily. It seems it would be most sturdy on a hard floor, it's a little wobbly on carpet, so probably not a good choice for a room with pets or small children. I love the little drawers as they are nice for small items like my glasses and they work well too. Overall very happy with the purchase and feel I'll use the lamp for many years to come. ... show more

I don’t think there’s an ounce of actual wood in this product - just an artificial wood grain texture over all the visible surfaces. That said, it’s a fantastic design and I love it! There are removable stickers on the drawers and shelves that let you know the weight ratings for these pieces. The shelves are meant to hold no more than 6 pounds each; the drawers are meant to hold no more than 1 pound each. This works great for me as a bedside alternative to a nightstand. There is plenty of room for me to put small items on the shelves (cup of water, a book or two, tissues) and store small things inside the drawers (like earplugs or another book). Bearing in mind the weight restrictions, I don’t know why some other reviewers call this unit flimsy... the drawers are thin plastic, sure, but the unit itself feels very stable, and the bottommost shelf that rests on the ground is a much thicker, heavier piece. I have jostled this thing plenty and I don’t see any danger of tipping at all. The assembly instructions are in tiny print and are more a visual diagram than actual written instructions, so it took me a few minutes to figure out how to put it together, but once I got the idea it was easy. I only needed a Philipp’s head screwdriver for the 8 screws (4 at top and 4 at bottom). Everything else was screwed in by hand. This comes in 76 pieces (plus two extra screws in case you lose one) because each layer of poles are made of individual pieces and you could actually assemble this shorter than the full 72” height if you wanted to. I purchased this lamp shelf to serve as a bedside table in the narrow space between my bed and the window, and it's PERFECT for that. (This lamp is designed to fit in tight spaces; it would probably look a bit silly against a big open wall.) The manufacturer recommends the weight on each shelf not exceed 3 lbs, and the weight for each drawer not exceed 1 lb (although those are probably a bit conservative). There's also a sticker warning not to use halogen bulbs with the lamp. Overall, it's good quality, the instructions are well illustrated, and I'm very pleased with how it looks. It took about 30-45 minutes to put together, and one extra screw of each type was provided. My only complaint would be the shade. One edge of the shade is folded in the opposite direction so it folds flat during shipping, and bending against the natural fold (in the direction required for using the shade) is a bit awkward. As a result, my shade is a bit warped on one side, but no big. I just turned that side to face the wall. ... show more
