  • Great Coffee, Great Function, Great Features!
Color: Stainless Steel
After deciding that coffee is definitely a way of life, I decided to spend the money and buy something that could make a really good cup of coffee. I have used Mr. Coffee coffee makers for years and they do make a pretty good cup of coffee. However, sometimes you just want to spoil yourself and go a little bit beyond. I have gone way beyond the Keurig pods. They are good for a quick cup and there are members of my family who will use Keurig machines because they are rushing out of the door and don't have time— or won't take time– to make a proper cup of coffee. That's not me. Originally, I was looking for a coffee maker with a bean grinding function included. I spent a great deal of time doing research and my conclusion was that you often cannot do both in one machine: grind beans well and make a good cup of coffee. Also, I didn't want to have one part of the system fail and have to buy an entire new system. The reviews were not great to get both in one machine, and so I decided to switch searches and simply buy a separate excellent coffee grinder, (oxo BREW) and a great coffee maker. That brings me to the Braun MultiServe. My research took me to models made by Ninja, Cuisinart, Bonavita, Café, Breville, Technivorm, and God knows who else, and I was about worn out. I looked on several sites for price differences, I looked at YouTube for videos, and search the web and Amazon for best-of lists, reviews, etc. Prices ran from cheap, to the sublime, to the ridiculous. I wanted something that would not just simply make a pot of coffee–it would be a plus to be able to make a cup of coffee and do it elegantly and well. Ultimately, I made the decision to purchase the Braun. I have purchased Braun coffee makers in years past and have been satisfied with their performance, so I took a chance, closed my eyes and pushed the "buy" button. It arrived one day later. The unit is a fairly large coffee system and it looks impressive on the kitchen counter. I settled down to read the manual, and yes, I suggest that you read the manual (!) so that you get all of the information that you need to successfully use the system. It really isn't complicated to use and I found that the most effort I had to put out was to learn how much coffee I needed to put into the filter in order to get great coffee. There is always going to be trial and error when using a new machine. I was also using new coffee beans and a new grinder. In the long run I was rewarded for my efforts. I really like the feature of being able to make a 5-ounce cup of espresso (espresso–style; this is not an espresso maker), all the way up to a full pot of coffee by simply using the easy-to-understand dial. There is a small cup shelf that folds out from the side where the carafe would sit in order to make single cups of coffee. I have made a single 12 oz cup of coffee, 16 oz, and a carafe-full and once I figured out how much to use for each, I got great coffee. Great coffee is in the tastebuds of the beholder, so it's not often that everyone will agree on what tastes great, but you must use great coffee and fresh water (I use filtered- in addition to using the filter that is in the machine) for the best results. This coffee maker uses a process that provides a very precise temperature for the water, flow and speed based on what you choose as options when you brew. The water container holds up to 50 ounces of water and can be taken to the sink, if you use water from the faucet, and it uses (and comes with) a charcoal water filter for better tasting coffee. It also comes with a permanent filter, a two-sided measuring scoop, and a 10-cup glass carafe. There are options to brew coffee specifically to pour over ice, to change the strength of the coffee, and it is programmable. It will also let you know when it is time to descale the machine by an indicator. The Braun MultiServe comes with a multi-language Quick start guide, a larger manual, and has a three year warranty. There are reviews that will give more information than I have provided, so do your homework. I've used the machine for a short period of time and I have found that it gives me what I wanted. I recommend this product. Update: How do I like it now? I am still loving this machine, the grinder that I mentioned above, and the coffee that I use from Whole Foods, which is an organic, decaf espresso bean. It was formerly by Allegro but is now sold under the Whole Foods 365 brand. I have moved up in the world to grinding the coffee beans and making a fresh, fragrant and delicious coffee every time. I still recommend this machine. ... show more

  • Maybe The Next One
Color: Stainless Steel
I never found out if the coffee maker was any good or not. The box it came in was torn, untaped and without padding. The coffee maker had fingerprints on it and was scratched. Must've been a demo or a used send back. I sent it back the same day. Got a refund and now waiting for the next deal on it. Edit 11/27/23; Got another one at the same price on Black Friday. This time it was in a box within a box and fully secure/brand new. First, this coffee maker is bigger than I thought even though I knew its dimensions. It takes up space. Therefore, I had to create a dedicated section for it. Second, its quality built. The stainless steel is cool looking on the shelf. Third, easy to set up. Takes about 10 minutes because you have to run water through the system before using it, set the clock and put in water filter. Fourth, and utmost, it makes a great cup of coffee. There are many options to choose. A single cup or a full pot. There is a built-in shelf for a cup or keep it flipped up for a 16oz or above. It runs smooth and gives a smooth coffee-making sound. Lastly, even though I have not had a problem...yet...the "clean" button is right on top of the power button. One might fat-finger the clean button and not be able to drink coffee when they want it. Another thing to consider is its use. I'm the only one using the coffee maker. I probably will never make a pot of coffee. Therefore, I am not using it to its full potential. If you are single with limited space, even though it makes a great cup of coffee, you might want to consider something smaller. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 8 months
Color: Stainless Steel
You'd think I'd have learned by now that you get what you pay for. And unfortunately, $120 isn't as much money as it used to be. This is a fine looking coffee maker and looked great on our counter. Made a fine pot of coffee for 8 months. But it has more functionality than we really needed as all it's fancy options apparently just means there are more parts inside that can break. Even though we cleaned it and descaled it regularly, it seems like the pump inside stopped working. It started brewing very slowly and would stop and flash the "H2O" error even though the resevoir had plenty of water in it. I can not recommend this machine. We decided to shell out more money and ordered a moccamaster, even though it's not programmable. We'd rather have something that works reliably. 🤞 ... show more

  • Thoughtfully designed, hot! Coffee
Color: Stainless Steel
We've had this machine about 6 months and are enjoying it. It looks good on the counter and fit our space well. I like having the analog dial to select a size, and there is a nifty 'drip stop' lever to keep the bottom heating plate clean. Even if you forget the lever, the heating plate wipes up really nicely. I also like that the water reservoir lifts out and has a replaceable filter so I can fill it at the sink or from the filtered fridge water directly and just set it back in the maker to run. If you use the replaceable filter, run the machine *several* times after first installing the pod before making a real pot of coffee (the first time we did this we ran it only twice and thought the first coffee tasted off, even after presoaking the filter as per the instructions). My favorite part is that they've figured out the right, piping hot temperature for the coffee. It tastes great and stays wonderfully heated for a long time (hours). There's even a handy timer that displays after the run that let's you know how fresh the pot is (within the first hour). ... show more
