  • Ease of use
Thronmax S8 Twins Stand is a great sturdy mic stand. My wife enjoys recording music and has been fed up with weak mic stands. The Thronmax S8 Twins Stand is compatible with all standard shock mounts and fit ours perfect. She loves the hidden cable system and the fact you can hand tighten the hinges, also the 360 degree makes it easy to use in any position. ... show more

  • Sturdy and attractive!
THRONMAX S8 Mic Stand Boom Arm Review I’ve been producing several radio shows over the last 18.5 years and have used a lot of different boom arms and mic stands in different studios. There’s been good ones and bad ones, and believe me, its miserable trying to work live on air with a boom arm or mic that will not stay in place while you’re trying to concentrate on your delivery. I just installed this THRONMAX S8 Mic Stand Boom Arm and I am delighted with it! Even though the outer shell of the arm is built mostly of plastic, it still has a great deal of heft to it, due to the metallic support arms and base that forms the skeleton of this boom arm. It was very easy to assemble. Though without looking at the instructions, I was scratching my head at what the extra parts were for. That’s when I unfolded the directions and realized that there are two ways of mounting the arm—one using a clamp (my initial set up choice) and one where the arm is affixed by drilling a hole through the mounting base of choice (desk or counter top or what have you.) I like the fact that you can mount the arm both ways, making the arm much more versatile. I also like the little touches that THRONMAX has built into this unit including the integrated cable channels, additional Velcro strips in case your cables are too thick to run through the channel, a magnetic covering for the boom arm adjusting joint, the addition of a riser stem to increase the height of the arm, including a hex driver for adjusting and tightening the unit, and multiple adapter thread sizes for attaching different mic holders on the ball head. Attaching my pop filter was a little tricky, but I got it done. Overall, this attractive boom arm from THRONMAX appears to be a solidly-built boom arm, suitable for most needs. While I like the device itself, I do have some quibbles with the instructions and marketing. - The instructions are pretty good with well-drawn diagrams. However, if you do a search for “THRONMAX S8 Mic Stand Boom Arm” you’ll find an official THRONMAX installation guide video that makes the set up process much easier and faster to understand, especially when it comes to the flush-mount, table-top option. - There are multiple factual errors on the Amazon product page. From wrong captions in the graphics (obviously cut and paste copy errors), and different maximum weight carrying capacities (they range from 3.7 lbs. to 5.5 lbs.—which is it?) - There are multiple annoying typos that indicate that the graphics were not proof-read by an English-speaking person. - The graphics claim that you can “Enjoy touch control light management for easy Air on/off identification with the ultimate tool.” This is meaningless gibberish as there are no electronics associated with this arm except the mic that you add yourself. The THRONMAX S8 Mic Stand Boom Arm is priced right in the middle of other arms that run from $20 to $100 on Amazon. I’d say it’s worth the money if you want a well-built, quality boom arm. ... show more

  • Durable, Portable, and Adjustable.
👆😇🤔= My Honest Thoughts about the THRONMAX S8 Boom Arm Stand are that it is Durable, Portable, and Adjustable. Pros: Sturdy Metal Construction: The THRONMAX S8 boom arm stand boasts a sturdy metal construction, ensuring durability and stability during game streaming and broadcasting. The all-metal components, including the mic arm, stand, and tube, contribute to its robust build. Versatile and Fully Adjustable: This mic stand offers versatility with its fully adjustable design, providing a range of options for positioning over monitors or to the side. The foldable boom arm arches over surfaces and is complemented by a detachable riser, enhancing its adaptability to different setups. Cable Management for Tidy Setup: Featuring a plastic cover for cable management, the stand allows users to keep cables organized and hidden, contributing to a tidy setup. This thoughtful addition enhances both aesthetics and practicality. Multiple Adapters for Various Microphones: The inclusion of quarter-inch, three-eighth-inch, and five-eighth-inch adapters sets this stand apart. Users can easily connect different microphones, and the variety of screws for mounting adds convenience for different setups. Portable and Lightweight: Weighing in at 2.2 pounds, the THRONMAX S8 remains lightweight and portable. This makes it an ideal choice for users who may need to move their setup or require a flexible solution for various broadcasting scenarios. Cons: Plastic Ball Head Locking Mechanism: While the stand is advertised as "all metal," the ball head locking mechanism is plastic. Some users may find this less durable or prefer an all-metal locking system. It requires careful handling, especially with heavier microphones, to ensure a secure lock. Final Thoughts: The THRONMAX S8 Boom Arm Stand offers a solid, adjustable solution for game streaming and broadcasting. Its metal construction, versatile design, and cable management contribute to an overall positive user experience. The inclusion of multiple adapters enhances compatibility with various microphones. However, users should be aware of the plastic components, the plastic ball-head locking mechanism, and the connector assembly's complexity. While these aspects may not be deal-breakers for many users, those seeking an all-metal locking system or simpler connector mechanisms may want to explore other options. Further testing is needed to estimate the overall durability of this product. ... show more

  • Great quality. A real standout from the bunch
I’ve used/tried to use a lot of these table mounted mic boom arms around this price point, and they’re mostly cheap garbage for one reason or another. This one ticks most of the boxes in the ‘yes’ category (overall strength/durability, build quality, ease of set-up and use, etc). Honestly they *only* minor issue I have with it is that if you’re using a mic with some weight to it (even just an SM7B), it takes a whole lot of torque to tighten all of the hinge points closer to the mic to make sure it stays in place. So much that it hurts my fingers a little getting it tight enough, and I worry a little about the longevity of those screws I’m putting so much pressure on. But overall, it’s what I would call a “best in class” item, given the very reasonable cost… ... show more
