This is a nice, compact coffee brewer that uses the K-cup pods. It is designed for simple, single-use, just like the coffee makers you find in hotel rooms. The unit will make one cup of coffee, from 6 - 12 oz., and will take any K-cup coffee, tea or hot cocoa pod. When the lid of the coffee maker is opened, there is a reservoir in the back with step-markings showing 6, 8, 10, and 12 oz levels. It is a bit hard to see the ounce markings the first time, but after you look at the steps closely, it's easy to use them to make the size coffee you would like. I use a larger mug, so I always fill the reservoir to the 10 or 12 oz level. The brewing works similarly to any other K-cup brewer. Once the water is poured in, you can set a pod into the front slot, close the top by pressing down FIRMLY, and press the start button. The power light will change from blue to orange, indicating brewing, and you just wait until the light blinks orange, and your coffee is ready. Since the unit doesn't have a heated water reservoir, it takes quite some time to boil the water, then dispense the coffee, about 2.5 minutes from the time you shut the top, to the end of the brewing cycle. For me, this brewer is more about convenience and ability to use K-cup pods, not making multiple cups of coffee as quickly as possible. I wanted an option other than brewing a pot of coffee. I typically don't want to brew a pot with a minimum of 4 cups, so this is perfect, even if it takes a few minutes. The temperature and strength of the coffee was exactly as I expected.     • Good simple K-cup type coffee maker with an an easy to fill water tank
The media could not be loaded. We have had a big box store K cup coffee maker in the kitchen at the lake property, but my dad had love hate relationship with it. While they love their coffee, that thing occasionally had problems plugging, but it also had another issue, which is my dad has trouble filling it without dumping water all over the place. it is also getting kind of old, and while I have taken it apart before to get to the scales that form in the pressure chamber, it is not my favorite thing to do, and its not really worth the time and effort. When this maker came up I thought I'd give it a try. What we really like about this one so far is that it is relatively easy to load with water. It's got a large mouth for pouring water in, and it is far less awkward than the old one to fill with water. My dad is already way happier with it. So is everyone else, since there isn't water leaking all over the coffee station. The other positive point is that it does make the coffee quite hot, and provides good flavor. My dad also will make a second cup out of a pod, and he said that he can get still get sufficient quality out of that second brewing to continue doing that. It is quite simple operation; you can see in the video the start pause button. It makes decent coffee. The downside, although not a big deal if you never use it, is that it only makes K cup coffee. No ground coffee basket comes with this. We don't make much there except for the pods, and if they want a big pot of coffee they use a perolator. This is just for the k-cups, not grounds. As long as you aren't expecting that, it's not really a big deal. It's a single serve coffee maker; pods are what you expect to use anyway. It's not perfect, but it is largely an improvement over what we had there. We'll see how long it lasts, but it does look like it is a decent single serve coffee brewer. ... show more

    • Nice, unassuming, no big frills single cup coffee maker
Picked up this Bonsenkitchen Single Serve Coffee Maker to keep in a little condo we have. My wife doesn't drink coffee so it's just for me. This brewer is compact, easy to use/clean and fairly quick. I don't use K-Cups at home, but they're perfect for keeping things simple and easy on our weekend getaways. I like that the cups have a reasonable shelf life, too so I'm not worried about ruining a pound of fresh coffee if I don't use it over the course of a week or two. The Bonsenkitchen comes with a reasonable instruction manual that explains how to use and clean it. Filling it with water, popping in a K-Cup, closing the lid, putting a cup underneath (VERY IMPORTANT!!), and pressing the button are pretty much it. I really only have one complaint about the Bonsenkitchen and that's that the cup area is just a half inch too short for the insulated travel mugs I use so I have to brew into a coffee mug and then pour my coffee into the traveler. That's a me thing though so I'm not going to ping the Bonsenkitchen for that. Bonsenkitchen Single Serve Coffee Maker, five stars from me. ... show more

    • Works well, and quickly!
This is not a Keurig-branded machine, but it uses ordinary standard K-cups. It is basically what you find in some hotel rooms - there's no water reservoir that is supposed to always have water in it, instead you just pour in however much you want for your cup of joe, and that's what it uses to heat up and brew, however much that is. That is also how you control the strength of your coffee - if you want it stronger, provide less water (but at least 6oz) and if weaker, more (but no more than 12oz). Anyway, this brewer works exactly as you'd expect. Open the lid, pour one cupful of water into the reservoir, put the K-cup in the obvious place where it belongs, close the lid, put the cup under the spout, and press the one and only one button. Then wait a surprisingly short time for your coffee to be brewed. It worked flawlessly for me the first time. There's really nothing to get confused over, no settings or controls to confuse things - just provide water and the K-cup, and press the button. That's it, easy-peasy. This would be great for a guest room, dorm room, private office, or hotel room. ... show more

Works, but can’t use normal size tumblers in it. Does not fit even with the bottom drip tray removed. Can only use a standard coffee mug which works for some people, but I wanted it to make a to go coffee and I have to brew in one cup and then pour it into a tumbler so it is not very useful. Brews okay, but definitely makes it weaker than others I have used. ... show more
