Although these are "marine grade", I used them to strap some lumber to the roof rack of my car. Everything felt secure and it was proven by the fact that nothing flew off the roof - phew! The “U-GBP Boat Trailer Transom Straps” maximum functional length is about 4 feet (enough webbing must be threaded through and around the axel to allow it to hold). They show the ratcheting mechanism under water in one of the pictures in the advertisement and Technical Details say that the “Fastener Material” is made of stainless steel. I am not sure which parts are included in “Fastener Material” if the ratchet mechanism is then they are well worth the price because most ratcheting mechanisms start to rust making them hard to use. The soft plastic cover on the ratchet handle makes them more comfortable to use than others that do not have it. They look nicely made. They are reasonably easy to tighten and release. One can hold one corner of my lift bed with my boat on it (about 800 pounds, about 200 pounds per corner). I will be using them on my lift so I will find out how they stand up to being over the lake. I will keep the ratcheting mechanism out of the water but they will be exposed to rain. ... show more

Just feeling the weight of these tells me they are better quality than the generic straps you can buy at a big box store. Nice length for a transom strap down, without having too much extra strap to coil or cut (and then fray). Nice rubber grips on the ratchet levers. Hooks are very smoothly finished to minimize chances of scratching. The only thing I would have liked to have seen on a transom specific strap, would have been a pad or some sort of protection under the ratchet mechanism. Short ratchet straps, they seem to work as well as any other ratchet strap I've had. I got them for a specific application where I need a short strap so these are perfect. No extra strap tail flapping in the breeze while I drive down the road.

Great quality; they are heavy duty, but for some reason, they're getting loose while towing my boat. I have to adjust them every hour or two. Can't figure out what is wrong with it.
