My X5 didn't come with factory crossbars, so was in need of a solution. Was looking at Thule and Yakima, but decided the factory bars are way less expensive, maybe 1/2 the cost (if you buy here, not at the dealer). You get the front and back at this price, and by the way, they are not interchangeable. The front bar has mini wind spoilers underneath to quiet the whistle, the back ones don't (since the front is probably creating turbulence for the back). These are thick, rock solid, but very lightweight. Increased noise noticeable by 60mph, but it sounds more like a low pitch rush of wind, not anything annoying. The instruction manual in the box tells you where to place them (place front bar 460mm from beginning of rail, the back bar 700mm from placement of the front bar). However, in reality you could put them anywhere that doesn't interfere with the rear hatch opening, as the rail is continuous from front to back. The seller on my set was BMW Minnetonka, they did fine. Overall, these bars are a little more "blocky" looking than some other brands, but they are definitely solid, lightweight, and do the job. I think the extra clearance better allows you to use the sunroof with these on vs. lower profile versions. And yes, you get 4 keys total for the 4 bases, each lock in place. Great roof rack if you can get it delivered without being damaged. Oddly like many OEM items from BMW, BMW does a terrible job of packaging this as well, which are often easily tore up during shipping. They also leave the keys in the lock cores, so if package gets set down hard on either end (which it invariably will), keys will get jammed into the lock cores permanently damaging them. Unfortunately they can't just send you replacement lock cores, so you'll end up wasting a staggering amount of time trying to reconstruct the box just to ship it back. ... show more

This is a original BMW roof rack. It fits my 2014 BMW X5 perfectly. Easy installation and works great with my THULE travel box. I haven't had a chance to see if all my THULE attachments fit, but it looks like they will. I'll have to come back to this. I looked at the other roof racks that are available here on Amazon and Ebay and decided to go with original BMW. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have any issues. I have now used this rack through the winter without any issues. And it is pretty quiet. Even with my box attached. I would highly recommend this rack for your BMW. "Upgrading" to the F15 X5 from a Honda Odyssey was really a downgrade for gear hauling. Immediately obvious is the need to carry bike outside the vehicle. Been looking that roof racks and these are by far the best deal around. It's a genuine BMW part. Comes with locks at all four corners and 4 matching keys. The bars are aluminum and very light. I was able to install these by myself in under 20 minutes. The instructions are clear. The only thing I wasn't sure is how important the spacings are. The manual calls for 460mm from the leading edge of the rail and 700mm in between the 2 bars. I think I got them close, but time will tell. I will be using these bars mainly for bikes and may be luggage. The keys that came with the rack are identical to the keys I got with a Thule rack. Not sure if these are made by the same folks, but the fit and finish sure resembles the Thule rack that I own. In all, $200 paid is way cheaper than Thule/Yakima racks. These are also specific for the F15 BMW X5 in how the base fit and size of the bars. Definitely a great buy. ... show more

The Thule and Yakima ones were more expensive so I ended up buying these. I wanted something cheaper, but still quality so I figured I'd get the BMW OEM ones. I'm happy I did. You can tell these are quality and they're easy to take on and off. Would buy again.

These are OEM cross bars from BMW and fit my X5 perfectly. It takes a few minutes to properly install but easily done by one person. Surprisingly very little wind noise up to 70 mph. I wanted to have the option of carrying long items on the roof rack instead of inside the car and these cross bars are the answer.
