  • Great product, exactly what I was looking for
I had been using a Viking Tactical (VTAC) padded sling. It was good for comfort but the pad ended up being more of a nuisance when manipulating the weapon in certain ways. I also didn't like the two different ways of adjusting the sling, grabbing it in one place to tighten and another to loosen, so I went looking for a new sling. The two point sling from STI seemed to be what I was looking for and in general, it's a very good value. It's comfortable, good quality and has just one place to grab for loosening and tightening. Unfortunately, it wasn't as smooth as I'd like when tightening. It wasn't a major issue, but noticeable, so I returned it. If you want to save a few bucks and you're less picky, you might want to consider that one. The Vickers sling is more than double the cost of the STI, but I'm really happy that I got it. The Vickers sling is two pieces, each end secures to a mount point and once fastened, neither moves. When tightening and loosening on the Vickers, the nylon is moving through a glide that is the join point between the two pieces and it moves more smoothly. As mentioned in all the other reviews, the quality is great. It's easy to adjust to my body (I'm 5'11, 175 lbs). When I use the quick adjust to tighten it, the weapon is right where I want it to be. When I loosen it, I can manipulate the weapon as I want and easily swim my left hand out if needed. Great product and though it cost more, it's worth it. ... show more

  • A conflicted review of the Vickers Combat Sling.
The adjustments were few, so I gave it a two. Had there been more, it would have rated a four! There will be lots of Vickers Sling owners that will not like my rating of a 2. Most of what you read in the reviews are true. The sling is made well, and I would consider it bomb proof. The problem/issue that I have with the Vickers sling is that it is very limited so far as a quick adjustment sling. That is why I give it a rating of a 2. The sling is only quick adjustable for the top part of the sling (- two stars). And while you can adjust the lower portion by moving the tri-guides it is definitely not fast. The bottom part of the sling is made to adjust to your needs and left static where the top part is made to be fluid. If you threw away the bottom part of the sling and made the top part longer so “it” was the sling you would have a sling that would be adjustable from your front sling swivel to your stock swivel. Thus, doubling your adjustability. I sent this sling back due to the lack of adjustability. What I ordered to replace the Vickers sling was an STI 2 Point Rifle Sling. If you look at the design of the STI sling you will see that it is made like what I am talking about. It uses the total length of the sling for adjustment. This gives you the ability to make the sling very tight/short or very loose/long. It gives you twice the adjustment of the Vickers sling. Now, what you will not get with the STI sling is the very high quality of the Vickers sling. The Vickers webbing is nothing short of top notch but a bit stiff (- one star). I also think the hardware is better than the STI sling. But no matter how good a product is made if it will not fit your needs quality is a moot point. If you are a big Ol’ boy like I am then maximum adjustment trumps everything else. I wish the Blue Force guys would offer a sling make like the STI so far as I know they do not. I have looked at all of the major sling makers and the style of the Vickers is made by almost all of them. I must confess I favor the M1907 military style sling for most of my rifles. This is the type of sling that is used in the National Rifle Match Competitions. I grew up using a 1907 style military sling and it can be configured several ways and has lots of adjustment plus lots of quick adjustment length. However, I wanted a more tactical sling than the M1907, which seemed to be a little dated for my purpose. So, I settled for the STI sling over the Vickers. Like I have said the Vickers sling is a good sling and made well but it just did not fit my needs since it was limited in adjustment when compared to the STI. The Vickers is twice the price of the STI but is twice the quality as well. So, you be the judge. If you can get by with limited adjustment, then go with the Vickers. If max adjustment is what you need, which is great for big guys, then you might want to consider the STI. The quality of the STI is good and it should last a long time. If it does fail, then you can purchase another one and the cost of both STI slings will still be cheaper than one Vickers sling. The bottom line is if any of you Blue Force Guys are reading this, please make a version like the STI sling using your heavy webbing and upgraded hardware, plus your adjustment tab and I will be one of the first to purchase one. It would be the best of all in adjustment and quality. Thick or thin and anything in between, it would truly be a one size sling for everyone. I hope my experience will help others to make a more informed decision when selecting a new rifle sling. Good luck, Your Ol’ Uncle Sawberry P.S. FYI, It should be noted that I really did like the Vickers sling. However, it just did not meet my requirements for the rifle it was to be used on. Hence, the conflicted review. ... show more

  • Not totally perfect, but my favorite so far..
I'm not one of the guys, (or gals) in our military, that wear these slings all day long, in terrible conditions.. Their reviews would be much more relevant than mine. But, I do have to defend our central Texas farm from wild pigs, and other varmints.. I have a "few" guns, (wink wink) and have tried quite a few different slings, specifically on my military style rifles. Two of my rifles have Magpul slings, which in my opinion, are too heavy, and the hardware clinks against surfaces in my blind. I'm not sure this sling is perfect, but it's my favorite one right now. One improvement I could suggest, is coming up with a better way to attach it to the buttstock.. very awkward.. I watched a bunch of videos of people showing how to put them on.. Am I the only one that is dumbfounded by people with no speaking ability, who feel the need to make a video?! Anyhoo.. On the positive side, the weight of the sling is much lighter than the Magpul.. The hardware is not as heavy or obnoxious as the ones on Magpul.. And, the strap grab is easy to grab and pull, although I have to hold the sling with the other hand, to get it to slide all the way up.. Maybe that's something else that could be improved, or maybe I just don't have it on correctly. I am happy that I can support a Made in America company..And, yes, I would recommend this sling, and yes, I'm waiting for somebody to get me an Amazon gift card for my birthday or Christmas (hint hint), and will replace the two Magpul slings with these! ... show more
