I ended up buying the bright type of coffee. It is very light I think next time I’ll go a little higher in the caffeine level. If you want it to be a little stronger, you have to use a little more of this particular type.

I love Blue Bottle Coffee. If you have ever visited one of their cafes, you likely have drank the kool-aid. The cafes are chic, the baristas are the experts in the field, and the final part of the experience is the coffee which is the most smooth coffee you’ll ever taste. I purchased a bag of the "Balanced" roast which is said to be medium/light. The flavor was more medium/dark. I don't like dark roasted coffee, so this was kind of a letdown. I didn't think to save the bag to check the date, but the coffee also tastes bitter and stale to me. The beans themselves seem to be of questionable quality, as there are many broken pieces in the bag. Maybe I got the bottom of the batch. This is not the worst coffee I've tasted, but it most certainly is the the best. I really hate being wasteful, but I am literally having a difficult time finishing the bag. I'm considering dumping the rest and moving on to my preferred brand, which costs about the same. It is rare that I write a bad review, but I feel this needed to be said. ... show more

Blue bottle used to have great intense flavorful coffee.Not anymore apparently cause I had one cup and threw the whole bag in the trash.It tastes exactly like gas station coffee

Blue coffee is smooth and lighter than what I expected. It produces a nice mellow aroma and when brewed black is somewhat tasty. It is a nice bean.

I bought Blue bottle coffee decaf at the store right before I purchase these beans from Amazon. Despite being the same, my espresso machine can't get the pressure right with the Amazon bought beans. I've been using the machine for years, and this happens when there's not enough oil in the beans. Meaning the beans are old. Had to do the finest grind setting just to get an ok pressure so the coffee isn't sour. Price is good but I wouldn't purchase these when it acted so differently from the ones I bought from the store. ... show more
