We set to install some new 1/2 window length curtains in a room we were mildly remodeling. Didn't want the current trend of round curtain rods, the old style flat rods would be just fine for this little project. Bought the curtains at a Fred Meyer, so we bought the the curtain rods there, too. The Fred Meyer curtain rods can't hold any weight, they twist and bend like wet shaghetti. Seriously doubt they would support a set of sheers. Tried Lowes', Home Depot, etc., all the same. Aargh! Searched Amazon for heavy duty, flat style curtain rods. Came across Kirsch Superduty brand, ordered a set and had memories of the old days when things were made with quality and company pride. These rods were very inexpensive but we just needed a rod to hold a curtain and they certainly did that. They weren’t flimsy. They worked fine. For the price and not being flimsy they get five stars. .

Not recommended and definitley not heavy duty. Buy an outside mount rod that has only two pieces, not three. Those are about $12 each. This rod when extended to 40" could not hold the weight of a blackout curtain without twisting and sagging in the middle. These types of adjustable curtain rods that mount a few inches outside of the window should have only two pieces each. Thie one has three pieces per rod. The addition of the third center piece might be good for shipping a more compact package but allows the rod to bend, twist and sag in the middle. My old two-piece rod lasted several years in a kid's room holding the weight of a blackout curtain. This one came apart the first morning under the weight of the blackout curtain when the curtain opened by my kid. Old rod = several years. This rod = one day. I didn't want to spend $25 each for the similar looking though real heavy duty rods. I managed to find this same kind of rod in two-pieces for about $12 each and nearly similar to the orginial rod. All I was looking for was just the basic white, adjustable, outside mount, metal rods that are two L-shaped pieces. On the positive side these rods did latch onto the existing mounting brackets. ... show more

These will work if have no other options. Hardware is really bad points on both ends of hooks make you have to force the smaller rod over the hook? Metal cheap and sharp. Will work if you are careful.,would not buy this brand again.

My teen needed curtains hung and the previous rods were bent. It took me less than 10 minutes to unscrew the old hardware and install the new hardware/hang the curtain panels. The rods are durable and the price for a two-pack was great! Will order these again when I need to replace other rods in other rooms! ... show more
