Description

Released on July 18 2001, Bleed American is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band Jimmy Eat World. The title track sets the tone for the album with its blistering guitar attack and aggressive vocals. "A Praise Chorus" and "The Middle" improve upon that formula, maintaining the forceful instrumentation but toying with the lyrical themes. The album was a critical and commercial success, helping the band gain mainstream popularity. Now available on Vinyl.

  • My favorite album ever.
If there is ever an album that functions as a Time Machine, it’s this one. It instantly takes me back to the early 2000s, seeing JEW live in Mesa and rocking out all night. Not a single bad track in the bunch, this is my favorite album front to back.

  • Solid
I completely confess to being a newcomer to Jimmy Eat World. I wasn't ignorant of their existance before this album, I had heard about them, but hadn't heard anything by them. When the title track hit the radio (The CD was originally titled "Bleed American") I found myself singing along and was instantly hooked. However, I sort of forgot about them for a while and didn't buy their CD until back in December. Now I am glad I did. It is one of the few CD's out there that I can say is perfect. Every song is great and is different from the one before it. I don't understand the Blink 182 comparisons AT ALL, this band is so much more talented and multi-dimensional than them. You can call it emo, pop-punk, whatever, but they cover so many genres, you can't really categorize them. They do everything from emo to pop to punk to acoustic to alternative and even dabble in some 80's new wave sounds (Maybe not, but Sweetness reminds me of something that would come out of the 80's). The song writing is great and doesn't come across as forced or cheesy. Standouts: Praise Chorus, Hear You Me, My Sundown, If You Don't, Don't and Sweetness. Pick this up if you like MUSIC. I think everyone can enjoy this album, no matter what kind of music you listen to. ... show more

  • Bleed American - A Great College CD
I first heard Jimmy Eat World while I was a sophomore in college. I shared a room with my cousin for three years and while we had most things in common, taste in music was not one of them. This was one of the few CDs we could pop in and both enjoy. It's got the hard rockers (Bleed American, Get It Faster), the ballads (My Sundown, Hear You Me) and of course, the smash hit "The Middle." That was my first introduction to the band, and in those three years we wore that CD out to the point I had to buy a new one. It came full circle when I finally saw them in concert when they opened for the Foo Fighters. Jimmy Eat World is a very versatile band who don't always get the credit they deserve. If you only get one of their albums, this is the one. You won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • A masterpiece of early emo/pop-punk in the format it deserves
This album is truly a work of art. Both in terms of the music itself and the format. I cannot express how much I love collecting vinyl - it offers a physical product for me to save (as opposed to digital that can be lost so easily) in a higher quality and aesthetic than a cd. Easily worth the premium in price. Some of Jimmy Eat World's top all-time hits are included, such as "Bleed American", "Hear you Me", "Authority Song" and "The Middle" as well as some great gems that aren't as well known. ... show more

  • Cut from digital
This is very obviously cut from digital. Not nearly as vibrant or dynamic as an original pressing or even a CD. That said, it's flat, centered and quiet. So just turn on a little eq, turn up the volume, and sing a praise chorus at the top of your lungs. 🤘
