I was sceptic of "one pass" but Bio Ionic products genuinely get that one pass feeling. I have really thick curly hair. After blow drying with a brush this straightener actually is one to two passes max. This is my second purchase from Bio Ionic and I am enjoying it.

    • Best Hair Straightener I've ever owned (and I've gone through a LOT of them!)
This is, hands down, the best hair straightener I've ever owned, and I've had many. I've had a 1" Chi for a few years now - it lasted one year before the wires frayed at the base, and after some soldering and lots of electrical tape, it made it another year before it just couldn't handle it anymore. So I was in the market for a new hair straightener, and I stalked Amazon reviews for a week or so before I made my decision (note: I've got this crazy thick curly hair, so it's important to have a high-powered tool that can get the job done relatively quickly. Nobody wants to be straightening their hair for an hour). I stumbled upon this little gem, and read all of the reviews before deciding to take the leap of faith on a product I had never hear of, and I am SO glad that I did! The Bio-Ionic has good grips on the sides for your fingers so your hands aren't sliding all over the place when you're getting the hard to reach areas (like the back of your head), and it has grips on the actual plates themselves to keep your hair in place. I was worried these grips might pull too hard, or that my hair would get caught in them, but this wasn't the case at all! It didn't hurt me at all, and it really helped to keep all of the hair lined up so that it evenly straightened. That was a huge plus. Another thing that I really liked about this particular straightener is the adjustable heat settings. Some straighteners (like the Chi) don't have the adjustable setting, so if you have really fine hair you would be damaging your hair more than necessary. With the Bio-Ionic, you don't have that problem because you can set the heat as low or as high as you'd like. This thing has the ability to get SUPER hot SUPER fast, but even with my really thick curly hair, I still only set it at about 350 or 360 out of 400 degrees. Now, with the Chi it usually took me anywhere from 25-30 minutes to really straighten my hair well. The Bio-Ionic, though, has cut a few minutes off of that and now it only takes about 20. It doesn't seem like much, but trust me, those few minutes are precious in the morning! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone in the market for a new flat-iron. It is better than the Chi (which I never thought I would say...I swore by them for years!), and I'm sure I'll be a loyal customer for years. Give this a shot - you won't regret it! ... show more

This is my second BIO IONIC flat iron. I had my first one for 7 years and I loved it. The wiring eventually became loose from the iron and it stopped working. I went back to using my "back up" iron and it was awful. I couldn't get this BIO IONIC purchased fast enough. The feel of this product is truly salon quality and I couldn't ask for anything better in the way it straightens my hair. I have very long hair and it doesn't crimp or pull hair. It is very smooth and has plenty of heat. I love the upgraded digital temp display and the lock feature on the outside of the handle. Also, putting the temperature buttons on the inside section of the handle works well and the alarm that notifies you that the iron is up to temp is genius. I have only tried "Walmart" bought flat irons otherwise, so I don't have reference of another iron of similar value and quality to compare; however, my hair stylist uses this brand and I have now purchased two of these, so I can say with confidence... this is an excellent flat iron!     • Worth the Money!
My beloved Chi died after about 3 years. I probably had 3 Chi's over a period of 8 years and I loved them. I never considered getting anything else. Then my last one broke. I was devastated. I am frugal and good straighteners aren't cheap. I initially ordered another Chi from here on Amazon. Then my hair stylist suggested a Bio Ionic One-Pass. I told her that I already ordered another Chi but she sang the praises of the One-Pass so much, I came home, saw that it hadn't been shipped yet and cancelled the order. I wasn't ready to order the One-Pass just yet, but I at least wanted to look. It was at least $40 more than the Chi I had almost purchased, so that was an immediate negative. But I read all the reviews and while there weren't many, they were all 4 or 5 star! I thought about it for a couple days and finally decided that it might just be worth it. And I'm glad I did! I've had it for just over a month now and I love it! Here are some specifics: 1. I love the silicone strips. I feel like they help grip my hair and give it a smooth pass. 2. I love that the cord is long and doesn't tangle (my Chi did tangle and I hated that). 3. I love that I can set different temps. One for me, another for my daughter with super fine hair. Now when I use it for her, it doesn't feel too hot. 4. One of the reasons I went with this one is because of the reviews saying the straightening time went faster with the Bio Ionic One Pass. And it does! My Chi took about 30 minutes and now I am down to 15-20. While I wouldn't say it's truly "one-pass" for me, it still is a much faster process. I've had this for about a month and have had absolutely no problems. And even being as frugal as I am, if someone came to me and said "Great news! Your old Chi is fixed and working good as new. You can give back the One-Pass for a full refund and go back to your old Chi for free!", I'd say no thanks. I'm gonna stick with the Bio Ionic One-Pass. UPDATE 8/15/14: I've had this close to 1.5 years now and it still works great. I've had no problems with it at all! UPDATE 11/28/17: Still love it and still works great after 4.5 years! ... show more

    • Burns hair off.

This iron defaults at 450 degrees. When I made a pass down a section of hair it actually burnt more than 10% of that section off. I turned the temp down to 280 & it continued to burn my hair off. I’m not talking about damage. It singed it off just like it was burnt with fire. DO NOT BUY THIS
