Features

  • About MCU, If you received the main control chip about STM32F429VGT6: Before DIY firmware modification, customers need to build an F429 environment on the compilation platform for compilation and use, instead of directly using the previous F407 firmware. For more details, please refer to the tutorial on Github or you can write to us.
  • Includes a protection circuit on thermistor inputs which protects against short circuits between the heater cartridge and the bed heating element. This is a common mistake made by many users when replacing a nozzle or working on the hotend so we expect this feature to be a welcome one;
  • The TMC2209 stepper driver is not easy to lose steps and is in an ultra-quiet mode; the module has a large area of heat dissipation pad, which can reduce the temperature of the driver when it is working; the module supports three modes: STEP / DIR and UART.
  • TMC Motor drivers can be used in SPI or UART mode by simply adjusting the onboard jumpers beneath each motor driver. Additionally you can connect or disconnect the TMC DIAG pin using an onboard jumper allowing you to use hard endstops or sensorless homing without the need to cut any pins.
  • Includes an additional heater protection circuit which protects against runaway heating on the bed and hotend heaters. By default, the heaters are off so if the MCU or MOSFETs are damaged, the heaters will shut down instead of enter into thermal runaway;

Description

Please Pay More Attention If you received the main control chip about STM32F429VGT6: Before DIY firmware modification, customers need to build an F429 environment on the compilation platform for compilation and use, instead of directly using the previous F407 firmware. For more details, please refer to the tutorial on Github or you can write to us. In addition, if you have any problem, you also can write us. We will help you solve the problem. Main board features: 1. Uses a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 series STM32F429VGT6 main control chip with a core frequency of 168MHz that packs enough performance to run even the most demanding UI while ensuring stutter free printing. 2. Upgrade the configuration firmware via SD card. This recording method is simple, convenient and efficient; 3. Use high-performance MOSFET to reduce heat generation; 4. The use of replaceable fuses makes the replacement process more convenient; 5. Introduces a new “anti-reversal” stepper driver protection which is achieved through a combination of new hardware and Marlin firmware. This protects against motherboard or driver damage due to incorrect driver insertion; 6. ESP8266 WIFI module (ESP12S or ESP-07) interface for customers to use RRF firmware; 7. Onboard push-pull TF card slot (SDIO working mode) and U disk interface; 8. A filter circuit is added to the power input terminal to reduce ripple and noise interference; 9. The fuses now use a smaller package which leaves more space on the PCB for more features and makes it easier to swap them out; 10. The number of PWM controllable fan interfaces has been increased from one to three.

  • Drop in replacement for the SKR 1.4 boards
Style: SKR 2 ONLY
I bet you knew that already. The SKR 2.0 is a direct replacement for the SKR 1.3 / 1.4 boards, with some added features. There are some reviews that rightfully aren't as flattering. In my opinion they refer to the version "A" boards that had problems with the stepper sticks being damaged in a certain configuration. The board I am reviewing here is the "B" board. Since I installed it, I had no undesired issues so far. I like the fact that there are now 3 controllable fan header. (Part cooling, extruder cooling and controller enclosure fan, in my case). A slightly beefier driver for the NEO LED's allows for direct hookup of probably 10 LED's. At least I had no issues with that number. I am using a P.I.N.D.A 2 probe, although I have yet to see significant improvements in bed leveling accuracy. The probe is connected to the Z end stop and the second thermistor input (TH1) and I performed a calibration / compensation. (takes a long time) I believe improvement is so minute that it really doesn't show. Perhaps, changing temperatures on the built surface during ABL will improve mesh data accuracy slightly. My guess is that the independent dual Z stepper control for gantry leveling has a say in that, too. It might just be me, but I think the communication between the TFT and the main board is faster. There used to be a pretty good delay when switching the NEO LED's during print. Now it is mitigated. I only vaporized one of the fan controlling transistors, but this was my own fault not triple checking the wiring against the carriage assembly. Unfortunately, I overlooked the pinched wire to the part fan cooling wiring and viola the transistor in question produced a familiar smell. I caught it soon enough and was lucky it only took this transistor into silicon heaven. These are actually high current (believe 4A peak) transistors in a SOT-23 case. Now I have 99 more transistors in my component box. After replacing the broken one, all is working fine again. Phew, I could have taken out the entire board with that mishap! All over the SKR 2 Version "B" board is performing better than the SKR 1.4 Turbo, thanks to the faster processor speed. I get impatient if I run into lacking hardware, the SKR 2 helps me to overcome my impatience. Satisfied with the purchase, thinking of getting another one. ... show more

  • Know what your doing before you buy
Style: SKR 2 + TMC2209*5
If your looking for a drop in upgrade, your going to have a bad time. As a novice when it comes to all thing 3D printer, I decided I would upgrade my cr10 v3 with this board. I knew I would have to do some case mods to get it to fit, but the real tricky part was getting the firmware to work. If you do not know how to edit your own firmware and troubleshoot problems as they come (such as knowing how to reverse steppers and end stops) then I would stay away. It took me literal weeks of on an off tinkering and troubleshooting to get this working. If your up to tinker and learn, then this board works great. I’m not a huge fan that the sd card reader doesn’t auto eject, but has to be pulled out manually, but that’s something I can work around. The TMC 2209s are a great compliment, meaning the only part of my printer I hear are the fans. The stepper reverse protection is amazing and worked as intended, I accidentally did install a stepper motor backwards and it told me which one it was so it was easy to fix. One thing to note is that you will need to have the pin diagram next to you as many of the connectors block the silk screening so you can’t see what is positive or negative. Looking past all of the issues I had, which were entirely due to my lack of experience, the board is great, and does exactly what you want it to, assuming you know how to edit firmware to suit your needs. ... show more

  • Killed Drivers and Smoked Randomly EDIT Still Alive
Style: SKR 2 + TMC2208*5
I had been the using the SKR 2 for printing a little. Today I got a TMC Connection Error. I found it was the E driver, so I replaced the driver. Started the printer back up and it worked until I had to fail a print. Rebooted and I got another TMC Connection Error. I found it was the Z axis, so I replaced the driver. Then I rebooted, I heard a crack, and I immediately turned off the power. White smoke emitted from the rear of the board. I removed all the drivers and the board booed. All the drivers were then tested and they were all dead. I tried replacing one driver on the z with a working driver and rebooting, but there was no motion. All drivers were installed correctly and it seems I have a Version B board, so I am not sure what happened. This is my second BTT board that has died on me. Edit I tried installing old A4988 drivers, changed the firmware, and the drivers worked. Then I bought new TMC2209 drivers, changed the firmware, installed them one at a time, and the printer is working. While I am disappointed that the board smoked $40 of drivers, I was happy to see that it has protections in place to keep the board from going bad even while the drivers are destroyed. I might buy the SKR2 again in the future. ... show more

  • Great baord, not for the unitiated!
Style: SKR 2 + TMC2209*5
Picked up a Creality CR-10 V.2 with a dead board. An official Creality replacement was 25% more, only 8 bit, and had a 6 week delay. This is 32 bit, supports the CR/BLTouch, Thermal runaway protection, Sensor-less homing, Linear advance and much more! Replacing the CR-10 board wasn't easy to get everything working but that has nothing to do with BTT. I do not believe in 5 stars for just a good product, and neither should you. A product that does what is says at the average price is an an average product, That's 3 stars and there's nothing wrong with that! If everything is 5 star, then there's nothing actually great out there! 1 Terrible, immediate return 2 Works, but is disappointing in more then one way 3 Works as described and is priced fairly 4 Either works better then described, or Works as described but at a better price. 5 Combination of works better then described, has extra value/features, Top tier product, amazing value for money. ... show more
