  • Nice but incorrect claims. Will return .
These are generally a nice pair of binoculars with acceptable quality. However, I will have to return them due to incorrect claims regarding their magnification. I already own a pair of 13-39x70mm by ESSLNB. I bought the Beta Optics 10-100x68 to double the magnification I have to get closer to objects during stargazing and moon matching. I was excited when ordering them but disappointed when trying them out. The magnification is not larger at all than my 13-39x70. I have tested them side by side with all kind of celestial and terrestrial objects, from looking at the moons of Jupiter, to the craters on the moon, to street signs in the distance, to measuring the field of view at various magnifications. I cannot get any closer with the Beta pair than with my ESSLNB pair. They go both right along until 39x with field of view and magnification and there they both stop, maybe 40x or so for the Beta Optics but no more. So, I now have two pairs of binoculars with mainly the same range of magnification. Additionally, the images of the Beta Optics 10-100x68 is somewhat hazy and blurred at full zoom and hard to focus, so that they actually offer me less usable zoom than my 13-39x which is clear, sharp, crisp and easy to focus at full zoom. At first I had considered keeping the Beta Optics as they are much smaller and lighter than my 13-39x. They also have a nice feel to them and allow a sharp focus at closer up images, as well. However, in the very low zoom they have a rather small field of view so that I am much better off with my regular 10x50 to cover that area. And in the higher zoom they don't get me any closer than my 13-39x but with less quality. So, they don't cover any range I don't already have. If you want an good pair of zoom binoculars for bird watching they would work just well. They are not bad quality at a real 10-25x. If high magnification is your goal you might want to look at something that actually offers a true 100x. I dont know how they measured their numbers but they don't even get me half way there. Otherwise I don't have many complains about this pair except that I bought them under the wrong impression to double my magnification range. I am returning them simply because I cannot afford to buy something for the same range twice and will have to buy another pair to get me to a real 100x. Otherwise, nice pair. ... show more

  • Specs are deceiving
These binoculars are sold as "10-100x68mm" - this should mean 10-100X magnification with a 68mm objective lens. The box CLEARLY states that the OBJECTIVE LENS is 68mm - I measured the lenses and compared them to my other binoculars. - This pair of binoculars has 60mm objective lenses. The maximum magnification is ~50X (not 100X). ... show more
