I purchased for my granddaughter and the rod broke with the first fish she caught! It was not even a very large fish, we were able to pull it in using the line itself and it was a largemouth bass about 12 inches long. The rod broke as she was lifting the fish out of the water. The reel seemed ok it was just the rod that failed. I would like to return it and receive a refund since I had to purchase another rod close to our vacation spot so her vacation was not totally ruined. ... show more

My first non hand me down pole. My brother has Berkeley as recommended this brand to me. I got the light weight, 5'6" set up for trout 🐠 ing. Had an issue with line lope at first but shed a few ft and no further issues. I liked that this is a combo and came with line. Would recommend this for anyone

    • Can’t do much with 1/2 of a fishing rod.

Obviously, I did not use the rod because half of it was not included in the box. I am really fed up with Amazon sending out things that are defect, defective, have parts missing, etc. to return this junk, I have to drive over an hour round-trip to town to take them to UPS or Whole Foods. This is unfair and it happens far too often. When Amazon makes a mistake like this, they should have their delivery trucks pick the merchandise up and take it back. ... show more

The rod is beautiful and works great, not a fan of the reel design, birds nested a few times with the trilene that was on the reel from Berkeley, respooled but decided to put a different reel I had on the Cherrywood

Awesome combo por the price, to be honest at first I bought it only because I liked the design and already had some berkley accessories that have been pretty reliable so far, after the first fishing trip I can tell it works pretty good and the drag is smooth
