Description

By 2025 all brake manufacturers in the United States must eliminate copper from their friction formulations in order to meet the California and Washington Proposition 65 regulations. The legislation was enacted in 2010 due to claims by environmental regulators that as brake pads wear down, copper and other materials are deposited on roadways and in parking lots and then washed into streams and rivers. Too much copper in the water may damage marine and freshwater organisms such as fish and mollusks. On the way to the 2025 rule the legislation requires brake manufacturers to switch their formulations to low-copper. By 2021 copper content in friction must not exceed 5%. Many friction manufacturers have been forced to start developing new formulations and test a number of different materials to match the characteristics of copper in order to meet the 2021 and 2025 deadline.

  • UPDATED THE REVIEW - Read this if they're hard to install on your Honda FIT !!
You must and have no choice but to either sand down or lightly grind down with a dremel stone the built up gunk on your brake pad support bracket. these pads fit once you get the built up junk off of there. they're a hair wider than the OEM but they do work. NEXT Break in period is roughly about 50 to 75 miles and your first 10 miles of stop and go expect burnt smell and some smoke as they break in. I have put on 150 miles since I installed and now they're fine. ok so I went crazy trying to install these and came to figure out the brake pad holder mount on the car had build up and I had to sand down the rust and gunk from years of driving. These pads will install fine easy and move easy after you do that. these pads are a hair larger than what i removed. Now next part The real issue is the break in period! Mine have 25 miles so far and they smoke like heck when I stop almost like my brakes are hanging up! I cleaned and lubed the pins and outer edge of pads properly, even installed all the new ind\cluded hardware. Hopefully this stops when i drive 20 miles each way tomorrow. ... show more

  • Good quality pad, noisy when cold
I got a killer deal on these pads (open box from AW) for my 2015 Honda Fit and matched with the coated Quietcast Bosch rotors for a complete set. The installation was easy. I reused my original shims because the design was slightly different from what was included in the set. The braking power with these pads is great - definitely better than with the oem brakes which had half of the inside rotor surface rusted out. I hope coated Bosch rotors will prevent that, but only time will tell. The only cons is that they are quite noisy when cold, but get quiet when warmed up after a few stops. So, appear to be more performance-oriented pads and a solid choice if you are looking for a slightly better braking performance at the expense of noise when cold. Update: These pads are quite noisy when cold, ... show more

  • Fit Perfectly
"Fit Perfectly" might seem like a dumb thing to say -- after all, brake pads either fit or they don't right? -- but I learned the hard way not all brake pad kits are created equal. I previously purchased a kit from one of the usual big-name auto parts stores for a 2011 Honda Fit and, while the pads themselves fit OK, the hardware was abysmal. I had to fight like hell to get the lower retainer clips seated and, later, one of the pads shattered and ruined the rotor. Everything in the Bendix kit fit like a dream. Paired them with Bosch QuietCast rotors. Can't speak to lifespan yet but they're quiet and they stop the car like they're supposed to. So far, I plan to buy them again next time. ... show more

  • After Break-in period Brake are like OEM
I had my doubts about the pads after I had installed them but then the performance is good. After a couple hard braking they are still able to slow the vehicle considerably well.
