Description

Looks can be deceiving. At first glance our Pit Boss may look like many other half-helmets in the cruiser category. Scratch the surface, though, and you’ll discover quality that sets it above the competition: A lightweight TriMatrix (carbon/Kevlar/fiberglass composite) shell, an innovative Speed Dial fit system that prevents the “lift and slippage” plaguing most other half-helmets, a drop-down internal shield that provides on the fly protection from the sun, and a removable neck curtain offering cold weather protection and speaker pockets for a convenient way to add audio enhancement. Snug the Pit Boss onto your head and thumb the starter button — one ride will confirm the Pit Boss as the King of the Road. DOT approved. Meets the FMVSS 218 Standard

  • Great choice but not slim
Color: Gloss Pearl White Size: Large
I just sold my Yamaha 1700 Road Star and purchased a pearl white and black Honda PCX scooter. I have two fantastic full-face helmets but decided I simply wanted a half-face helmet for my scooter. I read every review on every helmet possible and tried on whatever was available at my local store. I detest the “mushroom head” look and let’s admit it, vanity sometimes gets the best of us and I even used a “brain bucket.” It was impossible to get all of the helmets I wanted to try on in one place, so after reading all the reviews I decided to go for this one based on the fact that it is a Bell helmet, so I know it means quality, and because it had excellent reviews, a nice flip-down visor, and many people said it was a much slimmer profile. Here are my findings: I really like the helmet. I bought pearl white and black to match my bike, plus the fact that white helmets make riders more visible. The helmet does not make me look like a mushroom head, but it is NOT a super slim profile either. It is a real helmet that provides as good protection as you’re going to get in a half helmet. Anything less and you would have to go with a brain bucket. The quality is fantastic, nothing less than what you would expect from Bell. I live in a hot climate almost year-round and will probably never use the neck collar, but as you can see from the photos it zips in and out nicely and does not protrude. It is very comfortable. It also seems very soft but well-made and I don’t think it would wear out and peel like many other reviews I have read from other helmets. It also has snaps on the bottom so that it connects to the exterior pieces. The visor is non-removable and definitely better quality than a simple snap on; however, some riders might find the snap-on version preferable in case they want to snap on a full-face windshield. (There are plenty of other options available to do this from other manufacturers.) The inside lining is not removable but you can pull it away from the inside of the helmet and wipe it down if necessary. The pull-down visor is easily extended or retracted with a protruding lip on the left side. (You can easily see it in the photos.). It clicks up or down and it’s really nice. It’s large enough to cover everything above my nose but does not hit my nose. You can see that I have about 3/16” between the pull-down visor and the bridge of my nose, and I would guess that I have a rather short face. The included version is dark smoke. I wear prescription glasses and it easily covers my glasses. Clear and light smoke versions are also available for purchase. Someone complained in one review that the pull tab was pink, not red. It is clearly red, but frankly, if you don’t like it that color just get a black magic marker and make it black! Seriously?!!! The twist dial is a super nice feature. I loosened it up to make the helmet slide on and off easily. I wear a large and this helmet was true to size. Dialing in the twist dial really makes it as snug as you want. Although I haven’t had a chance to use it on the freeway, (I don’t really want to be doing that on my scooter,) I can imagine that this would definitely help with preventing the helmet from lifting up in wind buffeting, This helmet does not have air vents, so if that is an issue for you, you should probably consider another option. I included plenty of photos to help you see what it looks like from every possible angle on someone who is not a model… Lol! I hope this helps you make a wise decision. ... show more

  • Great Helmet!!!! Nice features!!!!
Color: Matte Black Size: Large
First thing you need to do is COMPLETELY DISREGARD THE SIZE CHART!!!! The helmet runs small. I usually wear a medium helmet and this large fits snug with the adjuster all the way out. My wife would have fit a small size by the size chart. However, I ordered this Size Large for her and she uses the adjuster in the forward holes and it fits her perfectly!!!!! We have been using Bell Pit Boss helmets for 3 years now and we were fit in a Motorcycle Dealership store, so I already knew my wife and I both wore a size Large Bell Pit Boss Helmet. If I had followed the size chart, I would have ordered a Size Small for my wife and I’d be returning the helmet for a size Medium and then return the Medium for a size Large!!!! That’s one heck of a poor way to FINALLY get to the right size!!!!! I’m not going to punish the seller for the Size Chart. When you get the right size, YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS HELMET!!!! It’s perfect for Comm gear and you’ll love the adjuster for a true, custom fit!!!! I ordered the Matte Black helmet because they didn’t have the Carbon Fiber helmet. However, we are going to find a Graphics Design place and have some nice design added to the Helmet to match her 2019 Harley-Davidson Deluxe in Burnt Orange with Black trim. It’s a gorgeous bike for a gorgeous woman!!!! Now she has a new helmet to go with her new (to her) bike!!!! Happy Mother’s Day Babe!!!!! ... show more

  • If you value your head get a good helmet
Color: Gloss Pearl White Size: 3X-Large
Great helmet. I am so happy that Bell make size XXXL. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that it’s time for Bell to put a clip faster on the chin strap and little to much wind in the eyes when the visor is down

  • Nice looks and style and still DOT approved.
Color: Matte Black Size: Medium
Just like I said in my Shoei review , I purchased the helmet from Amazon, due to the price, free shipping (prime member), no tax and Amazon support. I had a chrome skull cap that I really liked, but it wasn't even DOT approved and the misses wasn't a fan of it for safety reasons. She still doesn't like the idea of a non-full-face in general, but at least its DOT approved this time around. The helmet is obviously bigger and heavier due to DOT requirements, but its not as big as a lot of other helmets I tried on (less of a mushroom head). The flip down sun shield is nice since it is conveniently there when you need it and will actually fit down over glasses you want to flip them up and down on partly cloudy days. The helmet interior is very comfortable and has a zip in head gaiter for colder weather, which I actually used yesterday. It definitely helped to keep my head warmer, but it also seemed to make the wind a bit louder (which makes sense). Apparently you can also get the shield in clear. I shopped around quite a bit to find a half-helmet that had the look, comfort, color (couldn't find chrome, but matte black was good enough) I wanted. The price is definitely a bit more than some of the other half-helmets I have seen, but the product is worth it IMHO. I typically wear a large helmet, but ended up with a medium since it had a snug fit the way I like it. When I tried on the large, the ratchet strap did an awesome job for adjustment. Looking back I should have gone with a large just in case I want to wear a dew rag or something else on my head (which I never really do, but it would be a nice option). ... show more
