  • Someone did their homework on this one! :)
So far I couldn't be happier. Most of my experience with ported subs have proven them to be muddy sounding and very sensitive to volume. This sub, with the crossover at the lowest point and the gain set to add just a slight touch of bottom end to my 2 way speakers, is nothing short of wonderful. Very clear, well defined bass that responds well at all volume levels and across a wide range of freq's. I've never heard a home speaker or studio monitor that could come so close to reproducing the sound of a bass amp being played live. I don't think you could find a better sub for the money. P.S. As a sound engineer who used to work in front of a bank of 6 18" subs powered by a Macrotech 5000, I'd really be interested in hearing a giant wall of these things. LOL Our subs at the club were loud enough for any reggae band or metal band but I don't think they sounded as well as this little beast does in my office. ... show more

  • A great quality speaker, if you need XLR passthrough
There are likely other, cheaper subwoofers that have similar quality as this one. Where this speaker shines is in the semi-gimmick XLR passthrough, which works flawlessly. This is important for certain kinds of speakers that only have XLR or line, and not a separate subwoofer channel. The cables will go from device -> sub -> speaker, and it just works with no other software or configuration. So again, it's a decent subwoofer, with a great utility built in. ... show more

  • Where's the BASS?
Been using a Behringer 12" sub for 5 years in home recording studio, it gets the job done quite nicely. Now building a remote studio in a smaller room and thought a Behringer 10" w/ XLR would suffice... This Behringer Nekkst K10S arrived brand new, very heavy but easy to install and start using. Driving it from a Behringer UMC404HD interface and running a pair of Presonus 5" powered studio monitors from the K10S XLR outputs. Behringer has missed the mark with the K10S.. very weak bass, which is what I bought it to produce. This unit might want you to think a flat, clean, bassless sound is what you want from your sub in your recording studio.. but no it's not, fellas... I get that from my monitors and cans while mixing and mastering.. I want BASS from a subwoofer. This unit weighs as much as my 12" sub, almost the same price, takes up as much space, and does not deliver anything close in bass response. Deciding whether to exchange it for another 12" sub or live with it's 10" inadequacies. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Good
This sub is a big surprise on how good it sounds. Nice punchy low end and a lot of power to boot. I out this in at our college for a B and C type studio. I will buying two more for our student stations in the studio.

  • Skeptical at first but...
I was a little skeptical because of the price but I'm actually surprised how much I like this subwoofer. I have this sub in combination with a pair of M-Audio BX5's running through a Behringer XENYZ802 and so far its working well. The fact that it's ported in the front as opposed to the bottom allowed me to be more flexible in where I placed it. If you're not matching this sub to Berhinger's NEKKST monitor line then cutoff frequency knob is a little unhelpful. I wish they had put actual numbers on the cutoff frequency knob as opposed to the size of the speakers you're using. Other than that it works well. Remember having a sub allows you better monitor lower frequencies and can separate you from the big boys if you don't have one! ... show more

  • yet it was adequate at best. The following day
While the specs on this sub are suitable for any home studio or 2.1 system, be wary of the quality of the amplifier. From the second I plugged it into my krk rokit 6's, I could tell something was off with the power output and bass response. Something with this rated RMS should have shook my room, yet it was adequate at best. The following day, the sub stopped working almost all together, still allowing power to be pushed through it, as my krk's were still getting power and playing normally. I assume I got a lemon, but after trying to call the company from the number provided by the website, it told me the number was no longer in service, which is a bit sketchy. I am returning it and just received my krk 10s sub. It is $150 more, but it is already leaps and bounds better. You get what you pay for sometimes......Not saying the brand is bad or anything, as the fit and finish of the sub was great, but I believe my product was broken from the factory. Buy at your own risk. ... show more

  • Speakers save lives!!!!!
I bought this solely to mess with my neighbors in the adjacent apartment and I must say it has brought us all peace. We had an issue with them playing loud music at 7am like it was a mid afternoon cleaning session. The issue wasn't solved through police intervention or a neighbor to neighbor talk. So fire with fire it is. I played this on the wall of their children's bed at 3am for a week and after a few dirty stares the 7am music has stopped. This woofer stopped a war single handedly. ... show more

  • home studio. yep.
yes, this. ita accurate, has a built in crossover, and you can run midi passthru on it. so perfect for a home studio... i use it wih my jbl directional speakers. people ask to play their fav songs when they come by, and always get so surprised how many sounds are in the track, sounds/beat they never heard until equip like this plays the song... amazing note: it wont wake up the neighborhood, just your mom. its for accuracy. it bumps like crazy, but not like kayne would expect it to ... show more
