I LOVE to have my nails painted - they always look so nice. However regular polish won’t stay on longer than 1 day without chipping and looking crappy so I hate wasting time on that. Going to the salon is great - my nails always look good, but it’s not as convenient as at home - PLUS I HATE how thin and brittle my nails get after I have them done professionally. I ask them not to file them so thin but they always do. So I’m left with thin brittle nails that peal and tear so easily. In comes Beetles 😍. I followed the directions EXACTLY (mostly - see below). File nails just to remove the shine (so they don’t get thin), push cuticles back, trim cuticles, and file/shape. I then rinse my hands with water & wipe my nails with alcohol wipes to be sure I get all the oil off. Thin layer of base coat, 2-3 thin layers of color, and thin layer of top coat. Be sure to cap the ends - this can be tedious but is so important to keep the ends from chipping and wearing off. A couple variations- the instructions say 60 seconds under the light. But all the bottles vary 60-120. I do 90-120 on all layers and twice on 120 for top coat (just to be sure lol). Then I wipe them again with an alcohol wipe - that’s it! These will last me up to 2 weeks, although I like to change the colors regularly because it’s fun lol. Taking them off is also super easy with a blue bottle of “Gel Remover” quick remover for gel nails. Highly recommend this - no soaking required 😉 Since Beetles has such an amazing color pallet I have a lot of colors. I did notice some of the colors do not match the color label on top of bottles the best so I bought some nail color things I could paint so I know exactly what each color will look like. This is my fourth time purchasing Beetles brand gel here on Amazon. This is only my first time being disappointed. My original kit from February 2020 came with a 48 W UVLED nail lamp which is still going strong. I ordered this kit with the nail lamp so I could process both my hands at the same time. I protect my eyes by turning my head or shielding while using the LED UV lights. I noticed right away that the newer lamp was much cooler and didn’t seem to feel hot on my hands. I chalked it up to progress, as they looked different as well. But then I noticed that my thumb and pinky were not adequately dry on the one hand with the newer lamp. So I started rotating every 30 seconds. This system has worked fine for me, though, not ideal. But while I was recently applying gel to my 11-year-old for a special occasion, she let me know that only six of the UV lights on the new lamp are even functioning. Of course I told her not to look at the lights and tried to protect her eyes, but since she noticed it, I flipped the lamp over and took a picture. She’s right. Only six of these UV lights are working. I passed the return window and the Beetles website states that they can’t help with orders placed on Amazon. Which is sad. I would think there would be some kind of warranty past the 30 days. Word to the wise, put on some blue light blockers, and or sunglasses and make sure that your UV lights are working before the return window closes. Will I buy Beetles products again? Absolutely. They are reasonably priced, have great coupons on Amazon, and seem to be a good quality. But I’m still disappointed about my UV lamp :( ... show more

Okay I was obsessed & had never loved my nails more & did my nails every 2 weeks with this, but then it started wrinkling my cuticles & destroying my nails. It was painful & took my hands months to heal once I stopped using the kit. This same exact thing happened to my sister with this kit… not sure if it’s just her skin or it’s burned our skin from the UV ... show more
