Narrowed this choice down against one other with "variable light intensity control knob". The light intensity here is great - with low, medium, and high setting (high setting shown in photo). The intensity is chosen by - 1 tap on base (low/on), 2nd tap on base (medium), 3rd tap on base (high), 4th tap anywhere on base (off). This is similar to a light you may find in upscale/renovated hotel rooms, but it's exactly what I was looking for, especially since it has low profile (height is ~16 inches overall), low footprint area on my dresser, the shade is oval-shaped. I would have given this a '5' rating if the cord was another foot longer (it's only 5' length), and I had to add a $14.00 short extension cord to get power from the wall socket to the plug for this light. ... show more

Im very happy with this lamp. It's light (weight) but doesn't feel cheap and stays on my dresser nicely. The light is very white but not too harsh and does its job well. One of my favorite things is when you turn it on it starts at the lowest dimming level. Great when I'm waking up at 4am for work. This side table lamp is a good size for a nightstand, especially a smaller nightstand. It is well packaged, comes almost complete with very little assembly, and includes a bulb. The only thing I didn't like was the led bulb included was daylight white instead of a nice 3000k, but that's easily remedied.
