I used a 1/2-1” Revlon wand for years and loved it, but it just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I wanted a lightly more beach curl and a little less “Heidi” plus my hair is longer now. I tried the 1-1 1/2” Revlon wand and returned it soon after, I knew it would be too big and I was correct. The tapered barrel made it hard to use and you ended up with the 1 1/2” curl which was not quite enough curl. I decided to spring for this 1” rod and it’s perfect! Great curl. The heat works great, my old wand I’d have to heat to 375-380* to get much curl, this one works great at 355*. The handle is comfortable and a food size. The cord is longer than the Revlon so it’s not getting stuck on the corner of my counter top anymore 😉 it makes it so quick to do my hair. The only downside is the heat control has the off button on the bottom and your hand can bump against that while styling. I have yet to turn mine off that way but I do think it could happen at some point. It’s not a reason for me to return as everything else is great and it’s not an issue thus far. Stylist Tip: you do not hold the hair against the iron with your fingers glove or not. If you’re burning yourself you’re not doing it right. I don’t use the glove and never burn myself. Pinch 1/2”-1” of the ends of your hair and use that to twist your section of hair around the wand. Your pinched end does not get curled which plays into the beach wave style. If you want those ends curled too you need a regular curling iron...and more time. ... show more

I have fine thin hair, which makes it fairly easy to style. I ordered this on a deal thinking if I liked it I’d eventually splurge on a beach waver. I won’t be doing that because I LOVE this thing. I wouldn’t want anything automatic, I love that I can carefully and slowly wrap small amounts of hair around it for a full beautiful style. Or I can wrap larger portions when I’m in a hurry for a quick, easy, natural looking wave. I don’t use the glove. I also enjoy the heat control, I’ve temped up a bit over time but I feel my hair is less exposed to heat than when I was using a hair straightener to curl it. I did not purchase this thinking it would replace my hair straightener, but I pretty much exclusively use this thing now. ... show more

I love this wand so much! It gave me the exact look I was going for. I will say I’m good at curling my hair and know how to prep it and the different techniques. I’ve had another one for about 5 years and I love it but lately I wanted more of a beach wave pattern, since my hair is longer! In picture one, I utilized a curling iron (not wand, and a different brand), 2 inch, and it did not do any justice to my hair. Curls didn’t hold, and I didn’t like it at all, so I exchanged it for this Bed Head one. In picture 2, I utilized my new curling wand and ITS EVERYTHING I WANTED! The shiny one was the best ever! It slid through hair smoothly. The newer matte version gets hot quicker and doesn’t glide through hair, almost sticks. Returning since they changed it and I haven’t loved the matte one. Why can’t they keep it the same when it worked so good?
