  • combines the best of the ergo 360, babybjorn and Lillebaby
Color: Cool Mesh Navy
I already have a babybjorn and a classic ergo carrier for my 3 months old. while the babybjorn worked great for the first months it is now killing my back, so i used the ergo with a waist belt, but my daughter just isn't comfy in there. as I also have an almost 2 year old I needed a good, no great, carrier for my youngest. She loves to be facing outwards for about 30- 45 min (then she needs a break from the world and wants to face inwards and usually take a nap). so doing some research I was torn between the ergo 360 and the lillebaby as they both allow the facing out position and have waist belts. luckily I finally found the beco gemini combining the best out of these two carriers! So here is why I decided for the beco (and have no regrets) - allows facing outward position in a good ergonomic way (ergo 360, lillebaby and babybjorn do too, but the babybjorn is less ergonomic. ergo classic does not) - allows to change the babys position from inward to outward or the other way without taking of the carrier, therefore without putting the baby down. This matters for me as I go for example to the zoo with both kids and have nothing but the carrier for the youngest. So obviously I can't ask my 2 year old to give me a hand to change the babys position ( ergo 360 and babybjorn allow that too, no way with the Lillebaby) - back friendly waist belt with a pocket on it (no waist belt on the babybjorn, very loud velcro waist belt on the ergo 360. Lillebaby has a nice waistbelt too and offers a pocket on the back of the baby) - relatively easy to put on and take off by myself (again think of the zoo situation) (ergos are a pain to put on and I would usually need help to close the back strap, babybjorns are the easiest to put on and take off, Lillebaby seems just as painful as the ergo) It took me about 5 attempts to figure out how to use the beco by myself, so it's not too bad - fits very small to very large people . The only carrier so far that my husband (6ft 8in) can use as well.If I wear it (5ft 7in) the leftover straps are kind of long hanging around, but I there is an elastic band on each fastener where you can hide the leftover straps once you rolled them up - I can breastfeed in the carrier (takes some practice though) - it looks good (so does the ergo 360, the lillebaby is kind of baggy looking) - the head support which can be folded down for the outfacing position is very high when folded up, giving my baby a great, adjustable head support and shade when she falls asleep on my chest (looking inward) - breathable and sunblocking 3d-mashes are perfect for the texas weather ... show more

  • Awesome baby carrier, better than MobyWrap, ErgoBaby Carrier, and Infantino Flip Carrier
I purchased this after using both the MobyWrap and the Infantino Flip Front 2 Back Carrier Black. I bought the Infantino Flip because it is similar to the Beco Baby in that it can be used for front carry (facing in and out) and back carry. I thought I was getting a good deal, but after my daughter was over 10 pounds I stopped using it entirely because it caused me such pain (the straps are not very padded). The clip near her head actually dug into her face and rubbed against her cheeks. I felt awful about her wearing it. The Moby Wrap Original 100% Cotton Baby Carrier, Chocolate is nice, but really it is just a long piece of fabric. My daughter is still comfortable in it (she's almost 6 months now), and it isn't uncomfortable for me. I just didn't like that the fabric drags on the ground and it is time consuming to put on. I've worn her in the "newborn hug hold" and "kangaroo wrap and hold". I didn't like the idea that I'd have leave space in the wrap for the baby, so I most often used the latter. I was given the MobyWrap by a friend that had 2; if I had to buy one myself, I would have bought the Sleepy Wrap Classic Wrap Baby Carrier, Brown, 0-18 Months (aka Boba Baby Wrap) because it is a stretchy fabric. This carrier is wonderful. I bought it after trying on a Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining (the original) in a baby box store. I really liked the padding on ErgoBaby, and perhaps it is superior to the BecoBaby. However, I only wore the ErgoBaby for 10 minutes in the store. My only complaint about the BecoBaby is that the straps still seem to rub into her face, but nowhere near as bad as the Infantino Flip (I didn't notice this with the ErgoBaby). The straps on this are organic cotton though, so it is not as abrasive as the webbed straps on the Infantino Flip. I imagine the drool pads Beco Drooling Pads would relieve this problem. In the meantime, I just wrap a baby wash cloth around the strap for her to teeth & drool on; it protects her face nicely. I purchased this instead of the ErgoBaby because I wanted to be able to have her face out, occasionally. It is a lot more comfortable than the Infantino flip. I've worn her in it for an hour while nursing and around the house. Also, I wore her in it for an hour at the grocery store; she never made a sound, and she even fell asleep in it. The main improvement the ErgoBaby has over BecoBaby is the pocket. The sleepy panel mentioned in the other review, I don't really feel is a sleepy panel nor do I feel it is a product flaw. It is simply supportive padding, a headrest, probably for use when the baby doesn't have full head & neck control. I was able to nurse in the carrier without much difficulty. I wasn't wearing a nursing top (I did have a nursing cami on). I had to stand up or sit on a wooden chair, rather than the sofa. Nursing was not hands-free, but only required one hand. If I sat on furniture I sank into, my daughter was no longer aligned properly to eat. I checked in the mirror several times, there was no exposed skin showing. I don't mind the secure, two-handed, snaps because I know that means she's secure. My baby will be unable to open the buckles herself. There seems to be no chance that they'll open by accident. ... show more
