  • Good information
I have never painted a portrait. This may be far above my skill level, but I like the information provided.

  • Book contents are very good
It’s difficult to find a book this good. It tells us everything in great detail like the color mixing and the values. A must have for any oil painter who aspires to paint portraits the modern way. The book delivers way more than it promises.

  • Very Basic
Not really what I was hoping for, the book completely omits topics such as underpainting and glazing. The equivalent of a "here's one I made earlier" cookbook. Some real naff photos and portrait examples too.

  • Must Have for Portrait Painters
Author is fabulous in step-by-step how-to lessons. Great info on skin tones, suitable background for subject, lighting the subject, etc. Great blow-ups to show color placement to enhance facial features. Book arrived earlier than expected and in great condition--looks like a new book but only at this price? Wow, glad I ordered. ... show more
