    • The best normal to tele zoom for a DX Nikon
The best normal to tele zoom for a DX Nikon. I hate zooms, I only use them when it is to troublesome to attach an older, sharper, all-manual Nikkor. There are times when a zoom is very handy, and this one is pretty darn sharp -- better then the 200mm model. The VR function can give you 3 extra shutter-speeds higher than w/o VR -- it really works. You can hand-hold this beast in decent light! One star deducted for the slowness of the AF. Forget using it for sports, unless you take the time to learn the right places to be, and anticipate the action (what you should do regardless!). For auto racing, pan-zooming, this isn't a good lens. Be very careful when the barrel is protruding way out. This is a cheaper, plasticy lens. You can break it by bumping into something hard zoomed all the way out!     • Does not have a Focus Ring & only takes distant pics.
I bought this item for a special event. Unfortunately I'd have to be far away in order to take pics. Many of my pics came out blurry since I couldn't get it to focus being that it doesn't have a focus ring on it.
