  • 3R PUROGENE is a 2% solution of chlorine dioxide, ClO2 (contains no free chlorine). Chlorine dioxide is recognized safe for drinking water treatment for more than 50 years. It is EPA registered for use in drinking water.

  • Use Purogene to control build-up of slime and odor-causing elements and enhance the taste of stored drinking water. Drinking water should be treated at a rate of 1 fl oz (2 tablespoons) of 3R PUROGENE per 30 gallons of water (5 ppm ClO2 concentration)

    • Multi-purpose chemical treatment for long term water storage. Works well when used correctly.
Although it is marketed to the RV crowd, this product is also great for stabilizing, sanitizing, and improving the taste of stored drinking water at home. I use it in my large water storage barrels to keep algae and bacteria from forming. Since using, the barrels smell less stagnant and fresher. I don't recommend drinking the water straight after being treated. However, a good gravity filter seems to remove most of the chemicals and improve the taste. This is a solution for those who are storing emergency water in large quantities and don't want it to turn green and nasty. Read the instructions, however, so you use it properly. ... show more
