  • Looks good and will fit men's size 12 shoes (barely)
My son came back home to live with us "temporarily" until he finds a new home and my wife told me that I had to move my shoes to make room. I told her to leave my shoes alone and she should donate half a truck load of hers to good will. So the next day I found all my shoes in a pile in the basement (could have been worse) right beside the "unwanted but not garbage" pile of stuff that we keep down there. At that point I realized that I too had a few too many pairs of shoes but not willing to throw away any, I started looking in Amazon to find a shoe cabinet (not a shoe rack) to put my shoes in. I wanted to buy something that looks good in case I was ever allowed to move my shoes back upstairs and it turns out that there are many choices that are either too expensive or too cheap looking for shoe storage. My biggest problem was that I wear size 12 and most cabinets will not fit that. When I found this cabinet I was skeptical because it is not clear that it will fit men's size 12 shoes but thankfully, it does! It fits sneakers size 12 too that typically have an over-sized sole. Here are some things you may want to know before you buy: 1) The inside depth is 12 and 3/4. I suggest that you take the largest pair of shoes you own and measure it to make sure it fits. Having said that, the doors are a bit flimsy and the magnets will still keep them closed if your shoes are just a hair too long for it. 2) The inside width is 28 and the height between shelves is 5 and 1/4. 3) It will not fit boots. I am not talking about tall boots, but any boots. You can fit some boots by removing one shelf but then you can only fit 6 pairs of normal shoes and 3 pairs of boots. 4) Assembly is very easy and all you need is a small hammer and a phillips screw driver. The instructions are very good but the pieces are not clearly marked and some of them were marked by hand with a red pen. However, even if the pieces have no markings, they can easily be identified by the illustrations of the assembly instructions. 5) The material is really cheap and flimsy. I was going to lower the rating because of this but then I thought, "it is going to hold shoes, it is not a display piece". However, it does look good and has a nice finish. If the finish lasts, it is worth every penny but judging from the material quality, I would prefer it at around $50. 6) It is made of particle board and that will not work well if you store wet/damp shoes 7) The doors are louvered and that allows air to move in and out the cabinet which is very important for storing shoes. 8) It is very sturdy so you can use the top of the cabinet as a convenient tabletop. In conclusion, if you do not mind the cost this is an excellent solution to putting the shoes out of sight. If your house has a foyer, or similar area, this cabinet is highly recommended. However, I cannot speak for the durability of the cabinet yet but I will update my review at a later time. ... show more

  • Nice shoe cabinet
Cabinet looks really nice and holds quite a few pairs of my shoes/sneakers, neatly and out of sight. Took one star off because the parts are not labeled to match the instructions so it was a little confusing at times since there are identical parts, just left vs right which can make a difference

  • Good product but installation directions not good
Overall good product but the installation directions need to be improved. It’s very confusing. I spent six hours trying to put this thing together.

  • Nice cabinet but the pieces were not labeled to match the instructions
Nice cabinet, however the pieces were not labeled to match the instructions. If labeled would have made it much faster to put together

  • Knobs are large parts per the manufacturer
Ordered this hoping for the best, receiving the worst. Parts were scratched, large boards with permanent indentations. Screws and hardware weren't in a bag, but thrown into the box. Dowels were broken. Some screws were there, others not so much. I called Baxton or whoever makes it directly via a number Amazon help gave to me (after me inputting that I was missing more than just a few screws it said work directly with the manufacturer). They at first said sorry on the phone and told me they would email me a parts list (from the assembly instructions) and a missing piece form to fill out. I filled out a door and the bottom were broken or extremely damaged. Also circled essentially the entire hardware list (including knobs) that weren't there. Baxton responded that it only "sends hardware that is missing. Per its Amazon contract, it can't send large pieces." It said I should contact Amazon directly. I said so because I'm missing or have a damaged large piece, you can't send me the hardware that you otherwise would? Eventually, Baxton said it would send hardware. I called Amazon. It offered a refund after I return it (this is a heavy box and no way could I tetris the damaged pieces back then manage a pickup or drop off-- not worth my time) or a $29 (partial) refund. I took the immediate refund. Today, I received the "hardware" package from Baxton and was presented with a philosophical question of "is a knob hardware or a large piece?" There are no knobs. But I do have the hardware. I can put the thing together but will need to go pick up some knobs somewhere. Not the end of the world. But 1/10 would not recommend. Spend your money on something else or cross your fingers that all the pieces are there. ... show more

  • Formaldehyde smell
Arrived in good condition. Fairly good instructions and I was able to assemble by myself in about 30 minutes. The wood is thin particle board and feels cheap quality. I could see the slats on the doors breaking very easily because they pretty much bend when you lightly push on them. The piece as a whole seems sturdy. What concerns me the most is the smell. The formaldehyde smell is overwhelming and I’ve been trying to leave the doors open and air it out as much as possible before I put anything in the cabinet because I know it will pick up the horrible smell. ... show more
