This is a review for other Asians who have difficult hair, not the hair models that could make anything work. The product doesn't work well for the average thick Asian hair if you plan to style it against the natural direction your hair grows (e.g. styling your hair back for typical disconnected undercuts, etc.). This is legitimately the worst hair product I've ever used. It's almost impossible to spread this in bone dry hair (damp isn't much better). It is also somehow greasy on top of this and it will leave specks of clay in your hair even if you comb it. It's unbelievable how bad this is and they charge a premium for this garbage on top of it. So if you want greasy hair with no hold and flecks of sand on top of it, this is the product for you! ... show more

I have been a customer of this clay pomade for almost 5 years! I think baxter has changed their formula which is disappointing. The right 2 pomades are 2 that I got recently and they seem so hard that it's hard to get the clay out of my hands. The pomade on the left is one that I purchased a couple of months ago and that clay doesn't seem as hard as the newer ones. The color also seem darker on the newer ones. The one on the left makes my hair look a lot better than the right 2. I think you can tell the difference in the pictures. Baxter, if you're reading this review, please go back to the old formula. The picture of myself is using the pomade I brought a couple months ago, not the new ones. These new ones make them harder to spread throughout my hair and doesn't leave the scent it once used to have. I am very disappointed, might have to look for another brand :( And if you're wondering why I have 3 is because I like to keep one in my car, one im my bathroom, and one in my bedroom. I wish I didn't have to leave this review as I have been a loyal fan and customer for so long. ... show more

Really great product for guys with thin hair. I have a full head of thinner hair and tried several products over the years in search of something that would provide lasting hold while not making my hair shiny/wet looking. I had settled on a decent product from, surprisingly, Axe, then read about this one. I was reluctant to pull the trigger due to the price but am very glad I did. You truly only need a very small amount of this to give you all-day hold. Several people mentioned an odor but I have not noticed it, nor has my wife. One thing to consider before purchasing is that after a couple of days, you need a strong shampoo to get this out of your hair. It accumulates and will eventually weigh down your hair.     • Does the job, but the price
I like the product, however the quantity and the price just dont sit well with me. I wanted something from the USA, and support local businesses, but the product is not stellar. It doest stand out to me in any particular way that allows me to justify the price. I feel I could find other locally sourced US producers that are small business for a better price. The product itself: the smell is great, not overpowering or unpleasant. The pomade itself is stiff, more than I had expected. It doesn't loose the stiffness from rubbing it in my palms and it remains clumped in the hair. I usually take a brush through my hair after spreading the clay pomade on and then I use another pomade, a small small amount of a glossier pomade and run my fingers through my hair. I then use a comb to strengthen out a part and bring the over all look together. I suppose I could use a hair dryer after I put on the Baxter clay pomade, I just get a bit lazy so it doesn't happen often. When I do, the hair is far more pliable and it retains the matte look. However, this takes more time to do versus using a glossy pomade through my hair. ... show more

This looks like a winner. I been looking for a product that lets me slick back my hair and does not leave it all stiff or hard, I want more of a natural look you see in the movies. All other products leave my hair rock hard and this one keeps it in check but leaves my hair soft. I believe I found my pomade, it is a little more expensive than the rest but 2-4 dollars extra is worth it. It does not impact me or the review but it does have a waxy smell which again does not bother me but I know how sensitive some people might be. The 2oz I do not know how long it will last but it does not require for you to apply much to your hair, one small finger scoop was enough for me. ... show more

Baxter of California Clay Pomade, 2 fl. oz. I bought this product because I heard good things about it. At first I decided to go cheap and buy a old spice pomade but that wasn't strong at all and the smell was really strong. My hair would start getting flat though out the day and the pomade wouldn't hold. This product though is amazing! The hold is strong and it last for the whole day. I can even put on my hat and then later on take my hat off and fix my hair back to normal. The hold is nice and strong and the smell is really weak. It has a wax kind of smell to it but it's really weak and no one would notice unless maybe if they stuck their nose into your hair.     • Amazing when used properly
I have tried a ridiculous amount of styling products over the years and have a closet shelf full of them. But I'm honestly getting the best hair of my life using this Clay Pomade. It took a couple tries though to use it properly. The first time I used far too much, at least double what I needed, and didn't emulsify it (warm it up) in my hands enough. You have to really warm it up until your hands are burning hot. I let my hair air dry mostly and apply the product when it still has some moisture and not 100% dry. If you use too much you'll know it and it will also be tough to shampoo out the next day. I wrote it off then tried again and really glad I did. Using about half of a pea sized amount is good for my medium length hair. My hair doesn't look like it has sticky product in it and is natural and shiny.
