Bought this derailleur for my Daughters 10sp Huffy from the 70s. Installation was easy, but setting up was difficult. Used this in conjunction with a Shimano Tourney trigger shifter meant for 5/6 speed shifting (5.5mm spacing between cogs center-to-center). I thought this was actual Shimano equipment, but it was clear from the setup that it was a knockoff with very little quality control. Dialing in the shift points was extremely difficult as what worked for 1st gear was off for 4th/5th gear. The derailleur also does not have a "B tension adjust" screw which works on the spacing b/t the first jockey wheel and the cogs. This meant that the gap was always too wide and when in 5th gear, the chain was often jumping teeth on the cog. Shifting was poor all around as the bushings and tolerances in the pivot areas were sloppy. If you grabbed the derailleur and put slight effort laterally, you could feel that it would give easily in either direction. Overall, this is bottom barrel junk that was surpassed in the mid 80s by established brands. I replaced this derailleur with an actual Shimano Tourney (their lowest cost model) and immediately shifting was 10x better and no tooth-skipping was experienced. Bottom line, DO NOT BUY. Sure, it's cheap, but a REAL SHIMANO derailleur is only $14 as of the time of this writing. ... show more

It was easy to install, that’s why the 2 stars, and to be fair, it lasted 1 ride and a half, before a small twig touched it, it it broke off as per pictures, and it caught in between the back wheel’s spokes, if I didn’t stop quickly it could had sent me flying, possibly face first, and damaged my back wheel severely, I know it’s a cheap derailleur, but this is beyond low quality, it’s endangering to the life of whoever uses it, I cannot even return it now. ... show more

This is a one-hit-blunder of a derailleur. A pain to install due to no locking mechanism and the cable adjuster on derialleur loosens over the ride. Shifts lousy, even when tuned by the shop; chain would slip when I pedaled hard. One jockey wheel rattled loose causing the cage to get bound up in my rear cassete which broke the other wheel and bent the cage. It also damaged my cable. I am a mountain bike racer who ends up on the podium; I do know what I am doing. I bought this because I didn't feel like putting a bunch of money into a derailleur for my old full suspension. Should have spent the $100+ for a good one...but still 2 stars for this one because you get what you pay for and it lasted about 10 miles. ... show more
