*UPDATED REVIEW 5/15/24* After writing my review someone from Barsys reached out to me with tips to get my coaster working correctly. After the tips did not yeild any differet results the rep asked if I would like a new one. This was Saturday 5/13/24 and the new one arrived today free of charge. I just tested it with 6 different drinks and they are all perfect. 2oz is now 2oz for my Gin & Tonic. Buy this coaster it is well worth it. My home bar is now perfect.* It connects to bluetooth easily, lights work and you can make a drink. However the measurements are not even close. For example, first drink I made was a gin and tonic, simple enough. The Gin portion in the app states 59.14 ml of Gin which is equal to 2 oz, but it didn't turn green until after 6 oz were poured. So I sat the Gin aside and tried drinks with just using water. Every one I tried including the Gin & Tonic multiple times were off by alot. For me it doesn't nee to be 100% accurate but it must be closer then what it currently is. With the new Bar 360 delayed once again now I see why. The Bar 360 uses the coaster 2 but pours the liquids automatically. At least with the coaster only you can stop pouring. ... show more

The Barsys Smart Coaster has two different aspects to it, the device and the app. You can't use the device without the app. The device: Powered by USBC, it doesn't come with a plug in adapter. You have to use a higher powered one, I happened to have one for a newer phone charger I wasn't using. The other end isn't USBA, it's also USBC, you so you may even need a USBC to USBA adapter as well. The device itself does not have an on/off switch. To turn it off, you have to unplug it. Closing the app (not forcing it, just switching apps) didn't close the Bluetooth connection, for better or for worse. Neither did it locking because I wasn't looking at it, then opening it back up. My device worked perfect, I also recommend watching the ring on the device as you pour rather than the app, as the device is going to be more accurate and any lag could cause too much of a pour if you're looking at the app. I chose a simple drink and tested with water. The app worked flawlessly to tell me what to do and to go to the next step. The app: What I like about the app is that it has a wide collection of drinks for any and all tastes. To make a drink, it was pretty straight forward: choose a drink, hit "create" and it walks you through the steps. I tested with water, and my drink was total 2oz, and that's how much water I ended up with. Here's where the app needs some work. I added my collection of liquors to the "my bar" section. I naturally did not expect all of them to be in there, but I did encounter issues with the barcode scanner in this. Not the way the barcode scanner works, but that if your bottle is...a little older...but of a common variety, say Jack Daniels, it won't necessarily pick up that this is a bottle of Jack Daniels in 750ml. It will make you add it. This is true for uncommon sizing too, like gift sizes and the like. Adding a liquor isn't hard, but it does get tedious. This section is where I have the most complaints. To add it, you choose a "type" - gin, whiskey, etc - then you input the brand. The issue is, many brands have different varieties. For example, I have a small collection of local liquors from Adrift Distillery. But I have to put in for brand "Adrift Distillery Columbia River Coffee Liqueur". There isn't a different section for the actual brand, and then another one for the line. This would also be nice under Jack Daniels, because I do have different lines of that as well - the regular Kentucky Bourbon and a Maple Bourbon. Currently, even though those are in the list, they list out as "Jack Daniels [name of whiskey]". The last part I have issue with the sizing. In your preferences, you choose ML or OZ as your unit of measurement. If you pick OZ it will ask for your liquor bottles in OZ quantity. Liquor bottles are hardly ever in OZ, they are usually in ML. Following that, you can choose the quantity number, with the basics as 750ml and 1000ml. Under custom quantity, you get a list of numbers, but not necessarily the numbers you want! Like 375ml, which is a common small size bottle, is not an option. You can't manually write in 375ml. You can only choose what they give you, and woe is you if you don't have something that is not one of those numbers. After you add your liquor, you cannot update it either. You have to delete and start over. Which I did several times because I messed something up. It would be nice to go back and edit. And one last annoyance: The Barsys Website and the Barsys App do not use the same login. I like to create logins on the computer because I have easier access to a password generator. I made an account on the Barsys website. Great. I went to log in on the app with it, and it didn't like that. It didn't register my account at all. I had to create a new login, which I used the same email (but a different password), and that's the one that works on the app. It will not work on the site. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience, but the issues I encountered sit in the "mild annoyance" camp, which is way better than the "this is frustrating" camp. I am good with tech, but for someone not good with tech they may find this more frustrating. At least making the drinks are easy, and execute flawlessly. ... show more

We received this as a gift. It would not connect to the app. Company not responding and cannot return, despite not functioning. Tried to work with the app. When adding items in your bar to create recipes, app does not recognize many common items. When the app "recommends" drinks using items in the bar, only one recipe showed and the recipe listed items not in our list. Basically a very expensive paper weight. This is a ripoff. ... show more

The premise of this device is really exciting. But there are still a few bugs that need to be worked out. These could be addressed with app updates. My first two drinks did not come out well. I watched the app instead of the coaster and that is not how it works. I ended up with double the first ingredient and none of the second. The app lags the coaster. The lights on the coaster are what you need to watch. After I practiced a few times with water I was able to get good with it. Hints: - Watch the Ring on the coaster when you are pouring, not the app! - Slow your pour when the ring is three quarters Blue. - Once it flashes green, stop pouring and look back at the app to see the next ingredient. - Practice with water first. Make at least 5 drinks. Upgrades I would like: - I'd really like a Slider bar in the recipe screen to make it really easy to adjust the size of the drink. Like making a double for example. As far as I can tell right now, I have to adjust each ingredient separately. It would be very nice to do it in one click. - The app should show how much liquid you have added each time you pour along with a running total. And keep a history. If you make a good drink and it's a bit different it would be cool to go see what you made (or at least the amounts). - Include a USB Standard to USB C cable. C to C is not convenient for most users. People have wall outlets with standard USB. - Add a training section to the app to get users used to using the Coaster. Overall this is a fun device. I was frustrated and disappointed at first but once I figured it out, it was fun. A few app updates could take this from 4 to 5 stars. This will be pretty fun at parties. ... show more
