  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Like the individual packs for portion control
Flavor Name: ORIGINAL Size: 1 Ounce (Pack of 12)
For an occasional indulgent snack I like to nibble on these animal crackers. I prefer the not too sweet taste and crunchy texture of this Barnum Original brand. I could eat a whole bag at a time, so the individual 1 ounce packets are perfect for limiting how many I eat at one time. They don't have whole grain flour, but the best thing is that they are made with a very low saturated fat liquid oil. No highly saturated palm or coconut oil! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars I love- reminds me of the 80's when it had a string handle and punch out wheels
But the portion size was so small for the price

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Great Flavor, Tiny Bags
Flavor Name: ORIGINAL Size: 1 Ounce (Pack of 12)
I used to get the little boxes of these crackers as a kid. I assumed it was the same thing just in bags, but the quantities are so small that my son wants two bags at a time instead of one. They are fresh, have a pleasant taste and texture, and are low in fat. They are ideal for on-the-go use, if only there were more in each bag. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Off the Chart Fun for Boomers and Beyond *UPDATE*
The media could not be loaded. If you are a Baby Boomer, chances are that at some point you were treated to a kid sized box of animal crackers. With just a bit of help from Mom, the box was magically transformed into a circus train car. The wheels popped out and you stuck a toothpick in to make them turn. A few years later there were perforations and a half circle of the wheel folded down. They didn't spin, but still fun. And then you would cut the ribbon on top to pull the box just like a real train car, with only the crumbs of tasty critters inside. Yes, I can remember all that, yet can't remember where my keys are. Typical Baby Boomer! While I'm certain the original incarnation did not contain fructose or the bevy of preservatives, the flour wasn't fortified back then, and companies did not have to be accountable to stockholders demanding a profit. What I'm saying is, no, they don't taste exactly as I remember, but what does? The little flying saucers with three specks of sugar inside that tasted like communion wafers. Pixie stix. Black licorice 'records'. The Good Humor ice cream bars from the truck with bells that were actually bells, as opposed to a blaring noise worthy of a blow horn. This current box of Barnums Animal Crackers might not exactly be MY childhood, but they are good enough that a new generation can someday say the same sorts of thing. "Back in MY day, you could get animal crackers in a little box that looked like a circus car. No, not like a Toyota car, a TRAIN car. Well, putting animals in a train car was popular back then...no, I don't know where they pooped..." Anyway, the pack I received was within the expiration date by about a month or so, yet did not taste stale. Bland enough for small kids. Fun to use for decorating cupcakes and cakes. And fun to see the delight in a fellow Boomer's eyes when you present them with a Barnum's Animals Circus Box. UPDATE 8/14/2015: Sadly, yet another cost cutting change to the iconic box. My last two purchases of Barnum's Animal Crackers did not have the white ribbon on top to carry the box. In it's place, part of the top folds back to create a handle. Time marches on. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Scary How Much Trash A Few Pkgs Cookies Can Create!
Flavor Name: ORIGINAL Size: 12 Ounce (Pack of 4)
Ok: I have no clue why, but I luv me some Animal Crackers’, even tho they’re Cookies! None of the “Cracker-Cookies” actually look like real Animal’s anymore, they’re all sorta mutated animals shapes now, not issue! World’s Changing!! The Huge Plastic Container of Fake (Sorry-Pretend Animal Crackers- cookies) Disappointing & filled me with Plastic Container Guilt. Took me bout 6 months to eat more then a few & it was outta desperation. My Animal Cracker “jones” hit & I didn’t have the Reals. So I made really good cups of tea & ate them by single handfuls. Allowing ’em to dissolve in my tea in mouth helped. The Real Animal ‘Crackers’ (Cookies) in the Large (Boxes) Containers- Perfect!! There just never seem to be enuf Animal Cookies in them!! Bags aren’t great, but there are more than 15 in each of them. Many fewer bags too! Still… Those Boxes Filled w/ Individual Little Pkgs of them-I’ve not felt So Guilty for creating so much Trash, for eating 15 to 20, of anything in my Life!! If you don’t GAS about fact that they’re Each Packed In Plastic & Quasi-Metallic Material. Nor bout fact that Earth already has Continent of Plastic Trash in her Ocean’s, then get the individual servings. Then we’ll really start seeing more mutated animals, all around us. Until they start disappearing…. Oh yeah, The Whale’s- Really Pissed about what bipeds (that’s us btw!) are doing to their Ocean’s. Just mentioning it. They’re growing less & less inclined to save some of us, from Tiger Shark attacks. Are Dolphin’s next, no longer Intervening on our behalf? IDK! Guess it could be our Overflowing Biped Trash Creation & Ocean Dumping. It’s even more heartbreaking that recycling is predominantly corporate lies!! Speaking of animal’s, most of us already understand that Karma, when really “upset”, can be a vicious female dog. No Kumbaya’s here friends & I’m way far from close to “perfect”! Woof! Just truth instead of bovine effluence. ... show more
