  • Beautifully crafted and painted Maul figure with neat, stylistic twist
The Star Wars series has always drawn inspiration from many things Feudal Japan, with George Lucas giving so much credit for his vision to Akira Kurosawa and not to mention Darth Vader's design having a strong influence from the samurai armor. It isn't surprising in the slightest that we now have a Star Wars Samurai toy line. The figures overall look very solid, but Darth Maul really stuck out to me. I was impressed with how physically striking he is and how his oni/monk roots are a little more subtle then the heavy-handed Japenese flair of the more heavily armored characters. Coming with an assortment of hands, two combinable lightsaber parts (single blade and dual blade options of course), and a red oni mask (which hides what is a wonderful face sculpt so I never use it), there is a lot of possibilities with poses and pictures if that is your thing. The details and colors are great. Far better work on a figure that you'd normally see in this scale, which explains the heftier price tag. But he's sturdy and feels solid. Holds poses well and looks downright terrifying. Whether you're a fan of Maul, the samurai Star Wars libe, or just love cool and unique looking characters, I highly suggest picking him up. ... show more

  • Wasn't sure what to expect...
I'm a huge geek for things feudal Japan. And I love Star Wars- even though I feel the prequels to be apocrypha. Now that I've gotten that bit of nerd out of the way... When I saw this, I was immediately interested. It had just been released, but the price had come down, so, I went in. It is BEAUTIFUL. The detail is stunning, and it is quality material. Some parts of his "fabric" are a thinner "cheaper" plastic, but it comes with 3 different hand sets, a mask, and the two pieces of his sword (with detachable blades). It looks beautiful. Totally worth it. ... show more

  • Exceptional detail and styling - limited mobility.
One glance at the images of this interpretation of Darth Maul and I thought: “Kongorikishi”. There’s a combination of dynamic fierceness and sumptuous richness in the rendering that somehow reminds me of the famed bare chested guardian statues of Todai-Ji. And so on impulse I purchased a figurine. Posed, one leg up on a black tourmaline stone, mask on, hands body and blade held in a manner akin to many renderings of the Narayen Kongō (or Ungyo) - He stands before the entryway lamp scowling down, glaring at all who pass. He’s not at all what one might expect of any incarnation of a Sith Lord’s apprentice (or any school of sensible decor for that matter). But I think there he will remain, from a galaxy far far away my very own dark guardian of the way. LOL [Note: As others have posted, posing him is tricky. The nature of the elaborate flowing molded costume and armor plate makes him far far less flexible than one expects.] ... show more

  • Great gift for collector boyfriend
My boyfriend is a huge collector of figures and I know he often looks at tamashii figures like this one so I got him one as a gift for Christmas. I know a bit about figures because of him but didnt really hold it myself to check out the articulation and such. It is definitely more of an art piece than anything. I thought it was amazing. The only disappointing thing is that there isn't many hands and such that goes with it. Otherwise it was amazing! ... show more

  • Amazing Figure!
I love Darth Maul, and this figure is well detailed, comes with plenty of additional hands and accessories. I love that the figure is self standing and super easy to pose. One of my favorite figures!

  • Cool looking figure
This is figure quality is great. The details and the artistry are superb. However, the articulation on this figure is bad. The upper arms have limited movements due to its shape. The upper body doesn’t move much. The feet do not have a rocker. I had very difficult time trying to pose this figure. I bought the figure because it looks and feels so cool. ... show more
