The unit was sturdy when I assembled it but I still used the felt tips as a surface protector. It fits nicely in the cupboard that I needed it for. Easy to assemble with the exception that dowel holes were missing on one side of the larger rack pieces. No worries as I drilled them out and inserted the dowels...perfect fit! Nice quality. The description of this items says that no assembly is required. This is incorrect. It comes completely disassembled with screws, stabilizing dowels and a hex key for the screws. With that said, it's very easy to assemble. I put it together in a little over 5 minutes. It's quite solid and holds 16 bottles easily. I have a couple of heavier glass bottles and champagne bottles in there and all fit well. The only thing to be wary of is when assembling, if you use powered tool (driver, drill, etc.) to drive the screws, the wood is fairly soft and you will unwittingly and easily counter-sink the screws. The strongest fit is for them to be flush. Start with a drill if you must, but ginishing by hand is the way to go. ... show more

When we renovated our unused dining room into a comfortable den/library we added bookshelves, a fireplace and wonderful chairs for reading, relaxing, chatting and watching the fire while drinking wine (my favorite use). We decided we needed a small wine rack for the bookshelves with a couple of crystal glasses. This looks great, fits perfectly in the bookcase and holds eight bottles of wine. It was very easy to assemble and I appreciate the pads for the feet that were included. We would recommend this and liked it well enough that we ordered another one. We actually use the room that once was a storage space for a huge dining room set that two empty nesters didn't need. I wasn’t expecting much, but I expected a little more than this. Three main gripes: 1. There no type of finish on the wood (ok, it’s bamboo). No where in the description does it state “unfinished “. The is no varnish or polyurethane coating just raw stained bamboo. It is completely dull, flat, and not shiny or even satin. This will definitely absorb food stain and grease splatters. 2. Hardware and dowel are pretty bad. The screws are hex-head recessed (allen head), combined with the supplied tiny allen key make tightening the screws more difficult than necessary. Why not use common Phillips head screws so the average homeowner can use the Phillips screwdriver they have in their kitchen drawer? The pre-drilled holes for the wooden dowels are oversized resulting in very loose dowels. 3. After being fully assembled, the unit does not sit level. I used all the supplied anti slip pads on one leg just to level it out. ... show more
