The bottom of the arm rest is covered by a felt-like fabric which helps hold it in place. The top has a velveteen cover to help hold cups or glasses. These are attractive and well made. It looks very nice. Wood is solid and not cheap and it wraps the sofa arm very well. It’s steady so I can balance drinks or plates very well. We have an ikea sofa with rectangular arms and it works very well on it.

This is just great for what it is. It’s very sturdy and backed in the back so if there is a spill I don’t think it would run through the bamboo slots. When it opens flat it is very sturdy. With my sofa recliner, when I used it as an arm table, I had to take the time to get the the sides really tucked in to the arm. Once done, it felt very sturdy. I thought the black pad would be rubber, it’s a durable felt or moleskin. Who knows, that may be better. But in the end, I like resting my arm on the reclining sofa‘s arm. With the table on the arm, it’s not as comfortable and that’s a no go for me that I had not envisioned. But I am in a recliner for a reason — to just sink and relax and it’s a product that turned out not to be my cup of tea. ... show more

I liked the idea of a solid surface to put on my armrest but unfortunately the shape of it didn't sit securely on the rounded armrest I have on my leather couch. So now I'm just using it as a flat surface on my ottoman.
