I bought this flat iron after I saw my hair stylist using it on me. I asked her where I could find it and she told me that I could only find it at the best beauty supply stores for about $200, and even THEN I would have to have a professional license to purchase it! So when I found it on Amazon for 60 sum dollars, I was amazed. By the time I bought it, the lowest price was $77 (still a huge steal compared to what the hair stylist told me). I got it in about 5 days and used it right away. Unlike my old flat iron, this one had really long plates, so I could straighten more hair and faster. And because the heat goes all the way to the outside edges, I could curl my hair. Also, my old flat iron used to snag my hair at the edges of the plates, but because this one has such huge plates, it wasn't a problem (and neither was getting used to longer plates- didn't burn myself once). This thing saves a lot of time too! It heats up all the way in less than 30 seconds. And it goes up to 450 degrees with 50 heat settings, so it's gentle enough to use on my mom's soft hair and tough enough to use on my thick coarse hair. I used to think that ceramic was the way to go, but after purchasing this flat iron, I found out that titanium is easier to take care of and conducts heat better. The one downside is the slight smell of burning plastic it gives off the first few times you use it, but it should go away rather quickly. The benefits in this case definitely outweigh the initial odor. I'm so glad I bought this. And I can't believe that I bought a flat iron and a curler that works on all types of hair for only $77! It was such a great investment. I can use this when I do my hair, my sisters' hair, and my mom's hair. If you're hesitating to buy a $77 flat iron instead of buying one at a grocery store for cheap- DON'T. It will more than pay itself off, considering the saved trips to the salon. I do my hair, my mom's hair, and my two sisters' hair, so this is saving us LOTS of time and money (and the fact that it works on all our different types of hair is amazing). Watch out for counterfeit on Amazon???! Or a lemon? NOTE: I gave 4 stars in respect to the real Babyliss straightener. Not this dud I received. Received mine today. The box looked legit but upon opening, I noticed that there were scratches and marks on it off the bat. The top has unfinished plastic cut. Not only is workmanship sloppy, it is not the standard of profession warranted by Babyliss Pro. (picture uploaded to Amazon) I shared one with my roommate back in university for a couple of years. The texture of a legit Babyliss straightener glides on hair smoothly, leaves hair soft and smooth, heats up instantly, and you see results within minutes. My roommate has it for 5 years now and it is working in top-notch condition as the day she received it. The one I received DID not do any of the above. It straightens but it is comparable to a cheap straightener from a drug store. My hair is left somewhat straight and rough. The straightener is VERY light and feels all plastic! (Granted, Babyliss straighteners are light but it doesn't feel cheap) The power cord is also loose (i.e, in the future it is very likely to not transmit not enough power to the straightener) Anyway, I am not gonna leave the seller's name bc Idk if they know of it or not...so please, inspect yours upon arrival. Real Babyliss straightener heats up in ~30 seconds and your hair should be smooth and completely straighten. It DOES NOT take several glides to get a section straight (Mine was set at '45' which confirms my suspicions) ... show more
