  • BUY IT!
I wish I did an unboxing video because I love this machine soo much. It came in plain packaging but under was the baby cakes box. Inside the box was the prongs, the cake pop holder/stand that holds 12 pops at a time and of course the cake pop maker machine. ( In the cutest purple) and 100 cake pop sticks but mine sadly came with no bags to cover the pops with I was glad I had ordered a set with cute bows anyway.. Just a small thing that would be awesome have if you want to use it right out of the box. I couldn't wait I went ahead and mixed up the cake mix I had in the cabinet figuring I was going to burn the first few batches based on prior reviews. I figured once I got it down pat I would break out the big guns and make a scratch cake mix to actually dip and put on sticks. However I was pleasantly surprised I only had a single mishap. I over filled the first time and it looked like Saturn cloned itself and was attached to every clone. Because I used a boxed mix of devils food cake which is airy and fluffy. When in a cake pop machine and cake bakes it expands so you really need to pay attention and fill the bottoms up almost all the way full as if the tops need a bit of space to nestle in leave a smidge of space between batter and the top. It is going to be one of those fine line situations. I honestly would take suggestion from prior reviews and say use a pipping bag and tip so you have more control of the batter flow into the little wells. I would go as far as to say that if they put a reusable piping bag as an accessory even a higher cost it would be worth it to not loose any batches of cake balls when in a sprint to make 300 of them 12 at a time. ( I was afraid to trust one of those floppy silicone molds for cake pops and the old fashioned way seems gross with what has been going on health wise in the world) This was the perfect solution for my needs. I am sure I will be using it for a while to come. The tiny prongs are almost perfect for pulling the cake pops out I don't know if its user error or they just aren't wide enough but I keep stabbing my cake balls with them instead of them either rolling up on to the prongs or being put between the two prongs like a little glove. I would suggest instead putting in a melon ball shaped scooper 1 1/4 inches so you can gently caress the pops out of the machine with out harpooning them like you are spear fishing. The cake pop stand came in handy it holds 12 pops at one time. I would however say I think it would be a better value for you to put in the 3 tier one that screws together its made out of clear plastic and it it a flat surface with holes in it for the pop sticks. They are about 6.99 on Amazon and hold about 30 cake pops total which would be pretty close to the whole cake mix if controlled dispensing is possible. . I think if you added the little changes I mentioned you could easily charge $55 or $60 USD for this "bundle" Anyway long story longer I suggest buying one of these for anyone who loves making cake pops. Just don't forget to order some bags to wrap your cake pops in. I got 100 clear bags and some cute colored polka dot bows on Amazon for $5.99 USD as a set with sticks. I am sure these will be a hit at my Bingo game on the weekend. I will edit and add photos of my first batch which I affectionately call the cake flops. Thanks for reading hope this was helpful and you bought one to try out yourself. E~ ... show more

  • Great cake pop maker and bonus of takoyakis!
I will be real, I did mainly buy this for cake pops, but I'd be lying if I said that was the only reason. This also works just fine as a makeshift takoyaki cooker. I have an overwhelming obsession with takoyaki, and they're quite hard to find in restaurants. Even when I do find them, they are never freshly made (though the flavor is never compromised as far as I can tell; granted, I've never had a real, fresh takoyaki, other than these of my own creation). The cake pop batter that I made using the included recipe was much runnier than normal cake batter, and I think when I make another batch, I'll probably choose to use a regular batter recipe instead. It made the cake pops very light, airy, and unsatisfying. I did a small bit of research, and according to other users of this product, nothing is compromised by using normal batter, so I recommend that. Also, a tip for anyone bothering to read, if you want the sticks to stay in the pop when trying to dip/coat it with candy melt, dip the stick in the melt first, just to get a smidgen of melt on it, then stick it in the cake round and use your finger or another stick to smear the melt around the area. After that, put them in the freezer for a few minutes to harden it, and the cake pop will no longer fall off of the stick while you're trying to coat it! For more concise instructions, I watched a cake pop video by The Icing Artist to learn this trick. ... show more

  • Don't listen to the bad reviews, this thing is GREAT!
Love this thing! So, got it for 80% off with Amazon Prime. Major deal which just sweetened it to me. It reminds me of one of those George Foreman grills but instead of grill lines it's got holes and locks closed. Cute and small enough to not be some major appliance that takes up half your cabinet space. I so far have used it twice. Once to make donut holes and once to make the cake pops. I waited to review it until after I made cake in it because that's where some of the reviews went sour so I wanted to test it myself first. Donuts were awesome. It was a package mix from the store but PERFECT for this little unit! Cake, well, I did use a box mix but did a little research first. I went onto Babycakes tips and recipes page to see what people were saying. What I did was what they advised. I used the box mix, omitted the oil, substituted the water with milk and added an instant pudding box packet. I then piped the mix into the rounds with a bag. They came out PERFECTLY!. Yes the first batch had a few saturn rings but come on, I'd never done it so it's to be expected! I then figured out how much to put in and they were all perfectly round circles. No flat spots, no problems. AND when it did overfill, well the entire unit gets hot so it cooked outside the ring and just came right out with the ball, no mess left behind. The little "fondue" type fork is perfect for dipping in frosting/glaze. Mine came out ugly as all heck but that's my fault for not being a decorator, not the units fault. That's like saying the shoes you bought are horrible because they don't fit right when you wear five pairs of socks at the same time. Come on, be fair here. Some people were complaining the cord is only two feet. Well, how big are your counters?!?! It's the perfect length to plug in and use on the counter. If not, there is this invention called an extension cord. Maybe people want to plug it into the wall and use it on the table for the kids to help. I wouldn't advise this. The unit gets hot and when you open it (I recommend a towel/pot holder) hot air and steam come out. You don't let your kids open and take cookies out of the oven when they are helping you make them do you? No, you let them decorate them when they are done. Same concept here. Leave the hot stuff for the adults. All in all, I love this thing. A box mix makes a LOT of cake balls. I prefer mine without the stick, kind of like donut holes but that's because I'm not selling/giving mine away. They are for our enjoyment only. I highly recommend this unit. Especially for $9.99!!! ... show more
