The media could not be loaded. I really like this toy and my kids absolutely love it. I love the soft pastel rainbow colors and that it’s wooden rather than plastic. All of the pieces feel like good quality. There are a few things I am not crazy about, but overall I still feel like it’s a 5 star product. Read on for a more thorough review. Maracas: No complaints. I think they are well made and the sound is pleasant. Easy for any age to use. Crow Sounder: My daughter figured out how to use it without me showing her. Simple enough to use and well made. Tambourine: Easy to play and isn’t too loud. I probably would prefer it without the drum. After only one day of play my kids dented/scratched it. Granted, they were being rough and hitting the drum with things other than their hands. Triangle: Sounds pleasant, easy to use. I am a little worried about the yellow plastic piece as a chocking hazard. My kids are 3 and 5 and it shouldn’t be too big of an issue, but keep that in mind if you’re buying this for a younger child. We have had a triangle toy in the past that used a string to hold it and I personally like the design of this one better. Clarinet: Of course my kids like this one the best. I think it is going to “mysteriously” disappear because it’s obnoxious. It sounds like New Years Eve. Glockenspiel: Pleasant sounding, and sounds better than a lot of other similar toys out there. I will say it is not exactly in tune, which is disappointing. However, given this is a toy and not a true instrument I am willing to forgive that detail. Honestly it is more in tune than other xylophone/glockenspiel toys my kids have played with. The music book is a cool idea, but realistically it’s better suited for an adult to use to play songs for their kids. My 5 year old understands the idea, but it’s just a little too complicated for her. You have to be familiar with the song so you can incorporate the note count/beat correctly. That said, I love the idea of the notes being color coded, being represented on a musical staff in the booklet, and that the note names are on the metal bars. It’s nice that there in a storage bag included and it easily fits all the instruments without having to Tetris them in. I think using a soft cloth bag would have better matched the aesthetic of a wooden Montessori toy, but we are storing this toy outside of the bag in a bin anyway so it doesn’t matter. My kids both love this toy. I have fun playing with them, and younger kids would love it too. Even though I have a few things I’d prefer were different, it’s honestly a great toy that we are happy to have in our playroom and I still give it 5 stars. ... show more

    • Great little instruments, much better sounding than toys usually do
You know you have nice toy instruments when the xylophones sound good. Often enough, they sound hollow. These sound great, with a bright, pure tone. Well, compared to other toys, which often sound dull or tinny. Don't expect a professional-level instrument, and you'll be happy. The güiro, maracas, and tambourine are all good to excellent for toys. The triangle took a little bit of getting used to. It takes a little bit of practice for it to sound clearly, but that's to be expected, triangles, you have to strike true. The little whistle (clarinet?), it is loud. Kids love it. You may love it less, because, well, it's very loud. The booklet with simple songs color coded to the xylophone is nice enough. It will either engage your child, or it won't. But anyway, it's enough for any grownup to play, even without knowing how to read sheet music. I loved this little set. ... show more

    • Fantasic Toy for kiddos
Our one year old granddaughter loves this toy. I have tried to order more toys using the montessori method especially for learning. While this is loud it is so cute watching her play with it. We put it up most of the time and get it out a few times a week. Its like a new toy everytime.

I love this instrument set and so does my daughter! The instruments are very pleasant to listen to overall, which is no mean feat when they are being played by a two year old. (My only caveat is that the "clarinet" is a freaking kazoo and well that speaks for itself. It's a quieter kazoo, but, still a kazoo and I have some strong feeling regarding that). The maracas have a very rain-maker-esq sound, making them my favorite of the instruments. Overall, the volume level of the instruments stays between quiet and almost loud, so it keeps things from feeling too crazy. Highly recommend these as a music exploration set for littles! (But maybe hide the clarinet kazoo before your kiddo finds it!) ... show more
