  • Loving it.
I put this up 11/17/13. So far it is working fine. Better then expected. I have it running one stone from the Small pond kit and 100 feet of the aerator hose. Currently all other ponds are frozen up but the area above the stone (25X25) is wide open. I was able to put it together and install it by myself but it would have been easier with the help of a second person. Updated 6/11/15 Still running fine pumping air. This is installed in SW Minnesota where it regularly faces 30+ mph winds. The only time I had to deal with it is during a spring after a hard winter where our pond totally froze top to bottom. I have the Outdoor Water Solutions FCU0039 Freeze Control System installed which will help in reopening the air line after periods of no wind but it meet its match. After the pond froze it ended up popping the air line off in the head. I tied off the blades the next spring, opened the access door and pushed the hose back on the hose bard. Good as new. Update 5/7/17 Had to tip the tower over for the first time. It's not building pressure high enough to pump to the bottom of the pond. Diaphragm needs replaced. Also cam bearing is shot. Broke my Allen wrench trying to get the center diaphragm plate off. One bolt is completely frozen. Will have to drill it out. Will have to pull the blades off to look at the bearing and try to find a replacement. One good thing is that the hinges you can buy for this tower work great. I was able to loosen the bolts around one leg and tipped it over by myself. ... show more

  • Too new for valid evaluation, but so far so good except assembly very time consuming
Our contractor agreed to assemble and install this windmill when they built the pond...It took 3 handy guys about 6 hours to assemble and another couple hours to setting up in cement at the pond. They struggled some with the instructions and aerator was missing a valve, so it still isn't 100% operational. In the end, it looks good and is up and turning well in the wind. We still need to hook up aerator that had valve missing, but we assume all will work at described once we have this part. I am not handy at all and really doubt that I would have ever got it together correctly. It came with unweighted hose, but our contractor suggested we get a weighted hose that would stay below the freeze line this winter, so we put the hose that came with it aside and ordered e weighted line. I do think manufacturer Should include weiGhted line in the kit rather than the inferior non-weighted line...especially for northern climates. We are anxious now to get the new valve put in so compressor works and we can hear air coming thru the air stone. ... show more

  • Best to have help when assembling
Directions not great but watched video on utube which helped a lot. Metal edges are very sharp my hands were so cut up during assembly which I did myself.

  • Extremely difficult to assemble
The media could not be loaded. Extremely difficult to assembled. Instructions are unclear and contain very few pictures. Only after searching for Youtube videos were we able to understand, especially the blade assembly. The reasons why to do something, like assembling the head on a bucket so the blades hang freely, would have been very helpful and saved us a lot of time and re-work. We must have connected and disconnected some bolts at least 5 times. While the videos make it look easy to use an impact drill on the inside of the head to tighten the blade bolts, it is not at all easy. It took us weekends over 6 weeks to finally get it together, and four hours one evening to put it up. I purchased the base hinges and those instructions were terrible too. Since the supplied ground stakes are pinched on the ends, it made it very difficult to put the hinges on the stakes properly. Also, the towers base clamps are too far apart, and the screws supplied are way too short, so you have to use pliers to squeeze the clamps around the ground stakes and hold it so you can get the short screws through and tightened. I am purchased longer screws today to make this part of the job a little easier. Overall, the windmill looks great, even though it struggles to spin in the low breeze today. OWS should pre-assemble the head and the tower sections so each tower section is then assembled by the customer, rather than having to assemble each piece and the entire head. Also, the aluminum pieces are all very sharp and I have cuts everywhere because of the edges of the pieces. Their current shipping method of a single box may make it easier for them to ship the pieces, but as far as customer satisfaction, it is extremely disappointing. OWS should also understand that not all customers are burly men with well stocked shops, tractors and equipment, and figure out a way to make the actual assembly of this product as easy as they make it look on their website and on their videos. ... show more
