PROs : blade seems very durable long enough to reach tough areas safety latch notch in handle for index finger CONs : feels a bit top heavy plastic handle spring is very strong NOTES : I just needed some snips to cut a lot of chicken wire for my garden. These are more than capable. I'll be using these for years and years so long as I don't misplace them. Just be aware that the spring mechanism is a bit overpowered. When you unhook the safety latch you need to keep a firm grip on the handle end. Not a deal breaker, just something of note. The cutting end is good quality metal and I expect it to never need sharpening if all I ever do with it is cut chicken wire. ... show more

I'm a widow with adult kids who live away. Needed to cut some heavy wire screen for a garden fence. I was familiar with this type of product around the farm growing up and then with the husband's occupation. Knew this was what I needed...if it was of a good quality. Surprise! It is! I needed something for crafting and cutting through thick wire. These do the job perfectly. They are a bit difficult to use if you have hand issues, as I do. I do not believe they are very ergonomic. It works fine. Except the ends of blades are too rough for small cuts like 1-2 mm only. So you'd need smaller one for final cuts should you require any.

Unfortunately, this product only opens about a quarter of an inch. The style of the opening makes it very inconvenient to clip metal, cut out designs, or use properly. I still use it to cut floral stems, but it certainly does not cut a flat tan surface much like I like to use while I’m designing metal products ... show more

If you have semi weak hands or not a lot of strength these are not for you. But if you can grip firmly THESE ARE THE TOOLS FOR YOU!!! I cut wreath forms, floral wire, and other metal craft items in a fraction of the time with these. Made crafting easier and quicker.
