  • Works FANTASTIC
Size: USB Extender
I have a 100 foot LAN cable from my laptop to my workstation and this unit powers my speaker bar, my phone to download files, plus my keyboard and mouse - all with no problem. The manual says it works with cameras and mics as well. Never do I lose a signal due to poor signal strength, it works as advertised. ... show more

  • Great for remote telescope control
Size: USB Extender
During the winter months it is no fun to sit outside at your telescope while imaging for hours. I wanted to have a way to control my telescope, focuser, and imaging camera inside the house which is 50 feet away from where I set up my telescope outside. This worked great!!! I have one box mounted at the telescope and plug in the USB for telescope/focuser control and the USB for my camera. I run the 50 foot ethernet cable to the other box inside and then connect the USB cable to my computer. Started up my software (SharpCap) and the telescope, focuser, and camera all connected perfectly. I used this a couple of nights so far with temperatures in the 20's and did some imaging for a few hours with no issues at all. This works more reliably for me to have a wired connection over 50 feet versus a wifi connection that was not as reliable. ... show more

  • 2 USB ports work at a time
Size: USB Extender
1/29/23 - received the replacement over the weekend. Ending my review with 2 stars. Only reason it’s not getting a 1 is because I can get by with only 2 ports working and customer service tried to take care of me. I replaced it and it’s still having the same issues. I can’t have 3or 4 devices plugged in at a time. I have a very nice rig with plenty of power. Not sure if it’s the system ir if their hardware just can’t handle a Razer keyboard, mouse, headset, and mic or is it’s my system but regardless. If I use a Bluetooth adapter I can hook my mouse and keyboard to it and have a usb port for that and my mic in the other slot which seems to work out. Again I appreciate them trying to solve my issue but seems to be a power issue on the extender side of things. 1/25/23 - Update they have responded, one of their customer service reps is on vacation. They said they would ship out a replacement in about 10 days. Updating to 3 stars. Once I verify replacement works or not I will update the review again. 1/24/23 - So I really liked the idea of this. I have a 4k ethernet extender going to my tv across the house from my PC so I can sit on the couch and game instead of at my desk where I sit all day for work or if I want to play a game with my wife. Background for the first couple months I only used 2 Usb's at a time. That being said I also need usb's for mouse, headset, keyboard, controller, mic. So to be clear all 4 USB ports work. The problem is when I have 3 devices plugged in for example; mouse, keyboard, and a headset plugged in then my devices constantly disconnect and reconnect to the point things are not playable. I have also tried different combo so if I have mouse, keyboard, mic in then it messes up too. If I have mouse, keyboard, controller plugged in it messes up. I unplug the mouse or keyboard and controller works fine. I can't return, so I reached out to support. At first they were responsive and did some troubleshooting and they decided it was a faulty item, and would replace. It was around the holidays, so I had family and didn't respond to an email. 3 days went by and I provided the info they asked for and no answer. So they responded 13 days ago, I gave a response 10 days ago and no answer. I sent another follow up 2 days ago. Still nothing. My workaround has been to buy a bluetooth adapter (usb) and connect my mouse and keyboard to that, then have the third item connected via usb. For some reason this provides no issues. Just having more than 2 usbs in the product at the time is the problem. Really can't recommend this product, even though at first I was showing it off. ... show more

  • Device works well, but the provided AC adapter has incorrect specs
Size: USB Extender
I've tried a few other USB2 extension devices and this is the first that works with all of mine. I'm using it for astrophotography between my PC in the house and the telescope outside with a 50m CAT7 cable. I had problems with random disconnects, the entire adapter would go offline for a second, causing all the USB devices to "unplug" and "replug" within 3 seconds. This obviously caused havoc and disruption. After testing for 3 days and the longest sustained connection being 15 hours I swapped the provided 0.5A AC adapter with a 1.5A and so far it's been completely stable. This makes sense, the specs on the device are 500ma per port, and the device itself needs power also. So doing the math, to meet specs each port needs 5v*500ma=2.5W and there are 4 ports so 4x2.5W=10W and lets give an additional 2W for the device itself so the minimum power the AC adapter should be rated is 12W. The provided adapter is 12v*0.5A=6W, which is HALF the power it should be to reliably power everything. I'm powering 3 astro cameras and a filter wheel directly from this device, so it needs the full power spec. I believe that the provided AC adapter was unable to meet the power requirements and the device would occasionally reset or brownout, causing all the USB devices to quickly disconnect and reconnect. The 12v power supply used for this device should be 1A or more. AC adapters are common and cheap, so I have no problem just using a better one than what they provided. It's just disappointing that they don't do the math and provide an appropriate power supply. Previous devices like this that I have tried have had numerous issues working with my devices, some will connect and work fine, others are not detected at all or are intermittent. So far this one has always seen all my devices and works well as long as I don't use it in conjunction with another hub and it has enough power to run it. I haven't tried it with a CAT5e or CAT6 cable, I am using a good quality heavy CAT7 cable. ... show more
