My last door was Amazon’s top rated Chicken Run which ate batteries that I had to manually install, but this Nypots model seems to have beaten. I loved the closed electronics with rechargeable battery that I recharge with the provided solar charger. I don’t get a lot of sun where it reaches but it only needs a few hours a day. It is lightweight aluminum yet sturdy enough to protect my birds. There are three ways to set the timer for opening and closing and the extremely handy front screen with large lettering makes it easy to set up and change modes. It took this 70 year old woman ten minutes to install on my precut opening, including attaching the solar charger. The additional remote keeps me from bending over if I want to open/ close the door myself. The price is way better as well. I wiil update if anything changes. ... show more

Easy to install and so many features!!! Remote control, solar, timing or light dependent closure times. I especially like the safety feature that won’t allow the door to shut on and crush my chickens. If something is in the path when it’s closing it will stop, delay, and try to close again. Very secure since it’s one solid metal unit. Well worth its price. We had another brand that had plastic rails and a string to operate the opening and closing and we had issues with the rails getting stuck when it rained because the area it was attached to would swell up. This one was a breeze to set up and came with everything you needed to install; even a little screwdriver and screws. Mine came with a warranty card and clear helpful instructions too. If you’ve been looking for a way to simplify your chicken life and/or make taking a vacation more manageable, this product is perfect! ... show more

We just installed this chicken coop door today. It feels very secure. I like how easy it was to install and set the timer to the exact times I would like it to open and close. It also has a light sensor option, if you prefer that. Hopefully it will continue to work as well as it is working now!

This automatic door has made my life so easy. No more trying to remember to close the doors or having to get up early in the morning to open the doors so the solar powered charging is working quite well. I have had it for only a couple months so we will see.

Our first automatic chicken door did not work properly. The timer feature would not work properly. So I emailed the company and they responded that day offering to send me a replacement. Within 2 days the new one arrived and everything worked properly. I wanted to give a shout out for the excellent customer service that I received (one of the reason I choose this company was that I saw others who had problems and the company made it right). My coop is under trees and doesn't get direct sunlight, but the solar panel is charging just fine. The remote control works great as well (I'm about 20 feet from it). I have tested feature with my hand and the door stops if anything is in its path. I will update on how long it keeps working. I'm really thrilled with not having to open and close the chicken coop in the rain and in early hours of the morning! ... show more

So easy to install and operate! No issues, it has rained and low sunlight and it has worked perfectly fine. It comes with a backup charging cable but haven't had the need to use it.
