🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Autel Evo Lite+ is a professionally crafted drone with top-tier camera functions. Its quality tends to rival DJI models, with a sturdy build, host of features, and a reliable controller. While some users raised concerns about initial setup and the software's lack of some automated flight operations, overall, the product's spectacular camera quality and flight time make it a not-to-miss deal for drone enthusiasts.

Pros

  • 📌 Superior camera quality with 6K video capability and a unique RYYB CMOS sensor.
  • 📌 Heavy-duty, sturdy construction that offers stability while flying.
  • 📌 Features an impressive flight time over 35 minutes, outdoing most of its competitors.
  • 📌 User-friendly, intuitive controller that feels similar to a gaming console controller.
  • 📌 The manufacturer's app is quite easy to navigate and includes a complete tutorial.

Cons

  • ❌ One user mentioned a defunct drone camera right out of the box.
  • ❌ Some users found the drone to be heavy and less nimble compared to lighter models.
  • ❌ Lacks software support for certain automated flight operations such as waypoints or mapping.
  • ❌ Requires a detailed calibration process before the first flight.

Should I Buy It?

If you're not primarily concerned about automated flight operations and looking for a drone with an exceptional camera, lengthy flight times, and a sturdy build, this is a sound investment. The Autel Evo Lite+ offers value for its price despite a few manageable setup hitches.

  • Well built and it's camera is solid as a rock
Color: Orange
Set up is easy using the app and all the controls are pretty intuitive even for the less experienced. Things to mention...it will be in beginner mode automatically when you first use it making it slow and you can go to smooth, Standard, and the fastest mode is Ludicrous which does claim 40+ mph (I managed to get 34mph in windy conditions) Information and limits can be set as far as range, height, etc. Great camera with variable aperture. Distance depends on area (I managed to get well over a mile before any loss of picture) this was done with mostly trees with some residential structures...still very impressive in my book. 40-minute flight time I couldn't achieve but 38 or so minutes with winds and varied flight speeds was still very good. The night mode for capturing better low-light images. Intuitive app and controller. Extra weight makes it more stable in the wind. In late in 2021, Autel released the Evo Lite+, which compares to another big name brand but then adds some extras that make it well worth the extra money, especially for those using their drones primarily as flying cameras Autel has adopted a very DJI-inspired design for the Evo Lite+. I thought the bright orange color might make the Autel easier to see, but I did not find this to be the case, at any real distance it didn't offer a significant change or help in any way. The Evo Lite+ has a more rounded camera and what I would call an awkward protective cover. It's not a deal breaker, but it's a little tricky to get on and off. The weight of the drone comes in at about 1.8lbs which makes it heavier than other comparables...im assuming the battery is larger since it offers an advertised approximate 40 minute flight time. So with the Evo Lite+, at 25 minutes you've still got another 10 minutes before you need to start thinking about heading back to home. I've never used a racing type drone but I found even in higher wind conditions up in northern climates it remained nimble a quick to respond. The Evo Lite+ has a large 1-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor. The Evo Lite+ has a variable aperture, which can be adjusted from f/2.8 to f11. Which is a noticeable improvement to the fixed type aperture. The ability to stop down the aperture in the Evo Lite+ is a huge advantage, both to film brightly lit scenes and to control depth of field. In many cases, you can shoot scenes with the Evo Lite+ and achieve a look that might require touch ups without this feature. The other thing the Evo Lite+ offers is better low-light performance. The Evo Lite+ can shoot ISO 48,000, since it has a dedicated a dedicated Night Mode. Now, that number might sound like a recipe for noisy, mostly useless video, but surprisingly, it's not. Autel's Dark Mode manages relatively crisp videos even in moonlight. For more general video, the Evo Lite+ is capable of shooting 5472x3076 pixel video, which is what gets labeled “6K”. For stills you can shoot 20 megapixel JPEG and RAW images. The camera you shoot with isn't the only camera that matters on a drone. The EVO Lite+ also has obstacle-avoidance sensors on the front, rear, and bottom of the drone which can be important in some situations (like flying under tree branches). Overall, its collision avoidance works exceptionally well and should keep you from any big mishaps One thing that surprised me is that the Evo Lite+ will warn you if you're flying somewhere you're not supposed to—next to an airport, for example. (Autel also doesn't offer air sense alerts at this time) Autel's Sky app for iOS and Android is very easy to use. The controller looks like an Xbox controller, but what you cannot see is the feel and the overall weight of the controller...its very well made and has heavy robust feel. The controller is easy to use and I had no trouble flying. When you take off for the first time, the Sky app will put you in a beginner mode that limits speed and altitude. I suggest staying in this mode until you get comfortable. The Sky app offers a variety of flight modes, including Smooth, Standard, and Ludicrous. The latter enables a top speed of 42 miles an hour which pretty much turns off the obstacle-avoidance features, since you're not going to have time to react to any warning. But it's fun to fly in Ludicrous mode. If youre looking for the control of a variable aperture 6k camera that offers excellent low light camera capabilities along with the increased flight time this professional quality drone packs an impressive punch. ... show more

  • No automatic flying is currently possible - fix it Autel!
If you are considering this for any type of automated work like mapping or photogrametry, just skip this model. Autel doesn't care about the professional potential for this drone other than basic manual photography and videography. Apparently they previously committed to releasing an SDK for developers to use, but that hasn't happened yet. No way points, no 3rd party applications, just a pilot flying manually. ... show more

  • Should be 4.5 Stars.
Color: Orange-Premium Bundle
I have several drones, mostly DJI. I Picked this Evo Lite+ up because there was a very good deal on them. The drone is much heavier and more sturdily made than either the Mavic 2 or the Air 2s. Because of that, it tends to fly much more heavily, it's not as quick and nimble as the Air 2s, but it does have a pretty firm feel when flying. You'll get more drift out of the Evo Lite+ than you will from any DJI drone. Remember to run through the complete calibration prior to first flight. I spent half a day trying to diag a yaw condition that turned out to be a simple calibration issue with the remote. a quick calibration and I was back in business. Lastly, remember that Autel views this as a consumer drone, because of that, they have not released an ADK or SDK for it, consequently, there is no 3rd party software for this drone to fly waypoints or run mapping operations. A true shame, because the cameral is top notch. Thats the bad, now for the good. This aircraft has one of the best drone cameras in its class. Instead of a RGGB, the camera is an RYYB, if you don't know the difference, I would encourage you to look it up and watch a video on it. Suffice it to say here, the CMOS sensor is much more reactive to light, which provides for unmatched video quality in its class. Until you step up to the likes of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine, you'll have a hard time matching its video quality. I've been shooting video testing different filters in different lighting conditions sine it arrived, and have yet to shoot a bad video. Pics are just as sharp and of very high quality at 50MP. don’t listen to the nay sayers who claim that because it has an 8 bit cam in stead of a 10 bit it is inferior. It is anything but! Put simply, it dramatically outperforms both the Air 2s and the Mavic 2. The other big benefit of this drone is flight time, it will easily loiter on site in excess of 35 minutes and has an easy total flight time in excess of 40 minutes. all in all, this is a good drone if you're not looking for automated flight operations. I have plenty of drones for that, this one is just fun to fly! ... show more

  • Didn't work out of the box
Color: Orange-Premium Bundle
Super frustrating. The camera didn't function properly out of the box and the auto pilot of the drone went nuts and nearly crashed itself trying to avoid whatever this color blur. Too expensive to have amateur crap like this happen.
